You can't convince me there is a good reason to use wheels larger than 17 inches, and you can't convince me there is a good reason to use wheels smaller than 16 inches.
But you can easily convince me to use wider or narrower wheels, depending on where you wanna put them....

I would have to disagree. My 16" winter wheels don't look bad and my 17" track rims look better than stock!

I agree that anything over 17" is a waste, but for me I'd LOVE to be able to run smaller than 16s for racing only. It's all about weight, weight, weight. The lighter the better, less unsprung weight is NEVER a bad thing. Daily driver wheels, yeah, anything over 17 is rediculous and anything under 16s aren't much to write home about, but where performance is concerned, 15s would be damn near perfect.

Just need a nice strong set of lightweight 16's. Otherwise you have to use too small of brake rotors.... lol.

i never really thought 15's would be good for performance, unless you have lower profile tires your going to get crazy tire roll

18's look hott but the ride sucks butt! 17's handle just as well but the extra inch of sidewall lets them soak up the bumps easier. I vote 17's

The amount you have to shave off the calipers to get them to fit now is MINIMAL. Maybe 1/8" and stock rotors are fine. For now the 17s I've got will have to do. Although they're way heavier than I'd like - 17lbs each.

I'm generalizing, thus, not specifically talking about the SS/SC or Redline. But, yeah, there's not too much you have to do to get 15's working on these things. Personally, I'd like to see some more hybrid carbon fiber wheels out there, or even mags again.

I would never want them for daily driving, but for a track wheel (in which case you WOULD have lower profile tires) they can definitely have benefits. They're typically lighter, which means less rotating mass and less unsprung weight which is a HUGE plus. Other than that, I dont' really care for 15s at all.

The bigger the better... if you are going for looks. If you are going for performance, problably 16 or 17. 18's aren't that bad for performance either.

I like the 17's better... wish I could get some. Lighter weight... and you can run a tire with a bigger sidewall for more protection and a better ride.

I like the stock 18 inch rims. I plan to replace them or actually go up one inch...MAYBE. I will most likely stay with 18's as I like visual and performance. The SS/SC looks weird with the 2.4L rims to me. Too shiney and too much room left between the fender and wheel This is just my opinion.

there are lots of aftermarket 18's that are lighter than the SS/SC stock 18's. Unfourtunantly, most of those wheels aren't available in our screwy offset. I prefer 18"s just b/c my 17x7s didn't fill the void my wheel wells have to offer, even after lowering it. I'll sacrifise a bit of performance for some looks. After all, my car is a street car that see's occasional track time........not the other way around.

yeah, 19"s do look amazing. I was originally gonna get some chrome 19" Falken Torque-5's, but im just too lazy to switch out those heavy suckers for my stockers on track nights. I figured 18"s would be a nice compromise.......better looking than my 17"s......but not quite as heavy as 19"s. I ordered 18x7.5 Enkei WDMs......1" taller in diamater and .5" wider than stock. Plus, I like the aggressiveness of them w/ the twisty spoke design. I originally wanted 5-stars, but I just couldnt find any I liked that fit our lug pattern, so I decided to be different and get a unique looking wheel. The WDMs are actually new for '07.

i know i said regardless of price, but when it comes to buying tires for anything bigger than 17's its just ridiculous! that and the performance is the reason im going with 17's

yeah, but your not taking into account the extra width your usually (only usually) get from larger aftermarket wheels. Granted, I could get 17x7.5 or 17x8, but if im gonna spend $$$ on wheels, im at least gonna size up 1" in diamater. For my 2.4SS, i'm only sizing up to the stock diamater of an SS/SC. But more importantly, im gaining .5" in width, which means more contact path, and more contact path= better road holding abilities.

If you owned a 12 sec or faster car I bet I wouldn't have to convince you to go to a 15 inch wheel, because you would probably been told by 25 people at the race track to do so before I could get to you
