225\40\18 Khomo Esta SPT

I just ordered a set of 4 of these tires for my Cobalt SSSC in 225\40\18.
How many people have these tire in this size and how do you like them over all??

I know the Pzero are garbage so I went with these instead and got them from Tiredirect.com " thanks forum member for the recommendation, once I pull up the name you get rep points from me "

I see some people are running 225\45\18 wich I here will run the speedo way off so I got them in 40 series wich is closer to the stock tire "215\45\18 " speedo speeds but maybe 1mph off.

Just like to get forum members input on the Khomo's.

Thank You

I have them in stock size (215/45/18) and love them. For the price you can't beat them.

Kuhmo makes some awsome tires for the price..... I am currently running some Federals in the 225/40s....cause i got them for a decent price but before I had some Kuhmos Exsta Supras i think and there were great tires, also had them on my 87 Supra before i had my Cobalt and they were great too..... These Federals SS 595 have a pretty good bang for buck too.....
But I agree totally, those P-Zeros are grabage, and way overprice for a shitty tire....
I drive abit fast sometimes so tires dont usally last long but
P-Zeros- rotating them often but all 4 only lasted about 6000km WAY overpriced
Kuhmos- Rotated abit, lasted about 12000km -Cheap
Yokahoma winter AVS, lasted about 16000km, wheel spin on ice/snow doesnt wear tires as much as pavement....-little expensive.....
Federals- had them for a little over 11000km and theres still about 50-40% thread on them.....-Cheap

Cool Im glad to hear you all have had good luck with them.
I cant wait to get my bald Pzeros off my car they only have 30 000 on them and ive rotated them every oil change and they are gone.

Ps no burn outs either ... LOL!!!

Now I have another problem with my Balt I have to get fixed and its been to dealer 4 times and they dont hear it and thats a click\popping noise when changing gears and going in reverse.

Im reading it maybe CVU joints in axles

I just had my Gunmetals rims repainted do to clipping and now I have this issue with clicking.

Does the problems ever end with these cars???

Damn you CHEVY !!!!!

Depending on what it sounds like, it might be normal....I know when shifting to reverse on most cars, it makes a little click/pop noise.... sometimes on a hard 1-2 shift I get a click/pop.... how many miles do you have on your car??I know at first my trans was really stiff and didnt like shifting fast, but now it is broken in....

just to point out the width of a tire (ex. 215 to a 225) does not change the speedo. Going to a smaller aspect (ex. 45 to 40) will change the speedo.

225/45/18 will run you a little slower then the speedo says...
225/40/18 will run you a little faster then the speed says...

I went with the 225/45/18 (Protenza 960as) and love them.

I have them

225/40/18

Plus side - Better tread wear, wider patch for better grip, cost, design

Minus side - They take longer to heat up, bad grip in the cold

how will 225 run you slower the circumference is the same because the aspect ratio is still 45 just like stock width has nothing to do with it

because the aspect is the % of the width of the sidewall compared to the width of the tread. 45% of 225 its wider than 45% of 215 which means the tire is taller and screws with the speedo.

would make it closer to the original tire height. here is what i have and what im switching to

have
235/60/14
9.25 tread width / 5.55" sidewall
828.6 revs per mile
25.1" high

getting
275/40/17
10.82" tread width / 4.33" sidewall
810 RPM
25.66 high

255/40/17's would keep my speedo on because they are 830RPM and 25.05" high

You got that comparison backwards, the bigger the tire, the faster you will be going and your spedo should be the same since they come w/ 45 series tires. The 40 series you would be going slower then your speedo says

Yeah you are right. Mine stock with the 215/45/18s read fast. I would read going like 70 and I clocked it radar and with another car with factory tires, both said we were going like 67-68. I figured they already read fast, why go to a 225/40, it would just make it worse. I got 225/45/18s and it should be pretty much right on, maybe a hair slow, big deal. A 225/40 will just make you say you are going faster but you really arnt.

what also needs to be said for any of this... take it to the dealer and they can reflash your ecu to recalibrate your speedo to make it right.

Everyone says they seem to be good for the price. I actually got Falken FK 452s at www.discounttiredirect.com Cheapest place I could find them. The SPT is the cheapest then the falken I got. I love the falkens, pulled a 2.226 60' at 25psi the first time I ever went to the track. I would say they grip pretty good.
