3lbs difference between stock tires and considered replacements

So my question is how much difference would three pounds make in the handling, hell ,all driving characteristics of the car. I am so smitten with the performance of my TC that I really don't want to "**** with the recipe" so to speak. I am bone stock fwiw. I have a few questions that lazy googling failed to turn up info for like the weight of a ss/tc rim. Anyone happen to know? Is the three pounds per tire going to force me into shopping for some of those seemingly nice Enkei Ekm3. Would I be well served by picking up rims that are 4-6 lbs lighter than the EKM3's? What was the weight of a stock TC rim again?

Thanks in advance.

anytime you drop rotational mass, you gain hp and tq. however, tires stickyness may very, and you could loose traction.

so what good is hp and tq if you cant get it to the ground.

sick world, isnt it.

Yeah, it is. i just was really taken with how the Eagle GT's changed my snob 9-5 from a snoozer to something I felt confident with in corners wet. I want to see what they are like on my TC but there are a whole lot of seemingly good choices out there... I remember what my blazer was like with these horridly heavy aftermarket rims and how much nicer the rig was with some factory aluminum rims swapped in... I never weighed either rim but it made me very aware of just how much a factor weight can be where handling and traction are concerned. I don't want to kneecap my baby. You think 3 lbs is small enough to be ok for daily driver mode? I like ripping through the corners but I am not auto crossing any time soon.

Stock=24lbs. The EKM3's will be pretty close. I would go with Enkei PF01's though. They are right around 17lbs and look awesome IMO!

OP- You bring up what has been on my mind for the last week! I have been struggling with this decision. I can't decide to go with the OZ Ultraleggeras (Black, 18.5lbs at $350/rim) or go with the Enkei AKP (Black with Chrome Inserts, 27lbs at $200/Rim). A part of me wants to go all out, get the lighter wheel, but another part of me can't justify $1500 on a set of wheels for a car that I am never going to race. But, like you said, I dont want to loose any handling. I can't justify spending $1000 on a set of rims when I am only buying them because they are black...there needs to be a performance value. So I am leaning towards the OZ's, but man...that $1500 is going to hit hard!
