Big 245!!!!!!!!

Alright I know imma get flamed for this one but ohh well. I was looking up different sizes of tires and I found a 245/45/18. Recommended rim width is 7.5-9.0". I know they will fit on the rim cause a 225/40/18 fit on my rim with no problem and the 225/45/18 is recommended for a rim width of 7.5 at the least. My big worries is tire clearence with the suspension and the fenderwell becasue the tire is about 1" taller then the stock. 1/2 on each side wall. I want the bigger tire because 1. Less chance of poppin it when I hit pot hooles which theres quite a big around my area and 2. It will keep better traction going through first since its a bigger tire to rotate. The width is my only debate though. Also, my car isnt lowered and if it does get lowered it will only be 1" at the most. Anybody have any comments on this. Also, all tires say that the minimum recommended rim width for a tire is IE 7" or 8". Whats the maximum on that you can go with it being safe on the stock ss/sc wheels.

Stock wheels are 7" wide, not 7.5".

I know the stock rim is a 7 and not 7.5 but people put tires on rims that say 7.5 at the least and put them on 7 in wide rims all the time. Plent of people are doing it on here. Im just wondering about tire clearence with suspension and fenderwell say if i was to lower it 1" or so.

225/40/18 is really the best way to go.

Man, screw what other people think. There will always be a naysayer to bring you down. That being said, I'm running 225/40ZR18 Toyo Proxes4 tires on a 7.5" rim--they fit just fine. I've been told that going 235+ would give you some fender rub, there used to be a thread about it. Search around, and you may or may not find it try to find badmunky on here, I thought their rims were 8", but I could be wrong. Have a great afternoon!

well you cant say that 225/40/18 is the best way to go. yeah you may be gaining 10mm in width but you are also losing about 13mm in diameter. a smaller tire is just going to make you spin more even if you have it just a tad bit wider. im trying to get better traction not worse. going with a bigger and wider tire is the best way to go if you want to say it like that. now if you was to gain that 10mm in width and gain 13mm in diameter then you will hook up better being that you have a bigger and wider tire to turn. if you are going for looks then yes, 225/40/18 is the best way to go, less sidewall and just a little wider but looks dont help you hook up and go faster.
