Bolt Pattern
Bolt Pattern
Please settle this one for me.
Over the weekend I was talking to one of my friends about my rim situation and how I have 2 sets of GM 18'' and they are bot different one it the stockers for my car that have bubbles in the paint and the others that I have on my car now are the ones off of the Malibu MaxxSS that the dealership messed up on. SO they gave me my old ones back. My buddy that has a 2000 Malibu said that my bolt pattern and his are the same and that I should just give him a set I said no they are not. I said the off set is different and he goes on to say that GM 5 lug bolt pattern are all the same and that they would loose money if they changed the offset in every car. So please someone set him straight for me and let me know wha the off set is for the Malibu 2000 and the Cobalt ss.
He then went to try to tell me that my car has the same chassis as his car and that the cobalt chassis is the same as the Cavilier and that it would be too exspensive for them to change the cahssi for each vehicle. I said that may be true for a few vehicles but no the cobalt nad a Malibu. I said that they are not the same and that it is a whole different car. He got pissed.

Your friend is wrong. Bolt pattern for a 2000 Malibu is 5-115 and your SS/SC is 5-110. Also tell him that the base Cobalt (05-06) has a different wheel pattern than the SS and SS/SC. Cobalt chassis is definately not the same as the Cavalier or his Malibu. Cobalt is the Delta platform and the Cavalier is J-Body platform. Not sure on the 2000 Malibu (N platform?). Cobalt chassis is shared with the Pontiac G5, Saturn Ion, Saturn Astra, Opel Astra and the HHR.
Basically, all his info is wrong.
