Do you think a 235 or 225/40/18 would be too beefy? I dont want to dent the rims that's the only reason why I'm thinking about a thicker tire. I also dont want to strech it too much if any at all.

Depends on the offset. My 235's look sick on the 17x9's

A 225/40/18 barely stretches on an 8.5 wheel although it varies from brand to brand. A 235 shouldn't really be stretched at all. If you want 8.5 +25 then you could get away with a 235 up front but I think you would have to at least roll your fenders in the rear with a 235. A 225 would be fine.

Here is a 19x8.5 +35 with 225/35/19 up front for a visual reference. You can see there is still quite a bit of space.

And here is the same size in the rear. You can see it sits pretty flush. Maybe a couple mm of poke.

They're not 18's but gives you an idea of the look and very slight stretch.

Thank you. I'll get some proper pics of the whole setup later. The wheels have been done but the color combo has not afaik and the wheel fitment is beyond anything any cobalt owner has tried yet to my knowledge. There will definitely be haters but that's ok. My new fitment is not even in the realm of practicality for this car. lmao
