damn...
most of the time the only reason you'll need an open end, besides if you like the look, are if you're running an extended stud not for the increased length but for the increased strength. like i don't NEED these studs cause they're extended, i'm not running a spacer or anything, stock length would work. but the fact that they're much stronger than stock is why i got them. length is just an extra. but because i'm not running a spacer to bring the length back near stock, i'll need an open ended lug so it doesn't bottom out on the stud before its fully torqued down.
but another positive side effect. more thread contact=greater clamp.

Alright I've been lurkin around this thread for months.. trying to pick up a few tips on coils and wheel size and **** but just a little confusing. I've got a few questions if you all dont mind..
1) I saw jookeycola's(if that's his name) LS sedan on coils with xxr's i believe.. anyways I was just wondering if anyone knew what the best size/offset is to run on LS sedan?
2) What do you all recommend as the best/good coils to get? best bang for buck?
Right now I am lowered on B&G s2 springs with about half a finger gap all the way around.. Just wondering since this is around where I'll be on coils, what the correct size/offset with wheels would be.
Thanks for the help. Be gentle.. lol

size will depend on how low you want. offset will depend on the width you get. there is no real "best size and offset" that you could use just like a rule of thumb.

Okay well this is how my car sits currently. I would like to have it right around here.. maybe a little lower. It's on 17x7.5 wheels right now with one to one half finger gap all around. I just want coils for ride quality/ability to adjust height/etc.. any other reason anyone wants them. Do you think an 18x8 in the front and 18x9 in the rear would fit at that height? sorry if this means nothing but im just trying to learn.
what are you considering "height" and "low"?? wheel gap? distance from bumper to ground? both?
going from a 17 to an 18 you'll have to lower the car down half an inch from where it sits now, just to get it back to where it sits now. as far as bumper to ground distance goes.

Alright here is where it sits now on 17s.
Front..

Rear..

Alright so i guess what im asking is.. If I got coils now what is the lowest I can go with them before I run into rubbing issues? With both 17s and 18s.

again it depends on the wheel size, width, and offset. along with what size tire you run. unless someone has already done it. there is no "you can do this, this, and that" while being 100% sure
Okay thanks for the help. Lmao it takes a bit to get **** through my thick skulls. Got it now though. Guess I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing and one day figure this **** out. For now its all about going turbo'd
