Do I need to keep the same size for tires/rims when I'm switching for snows?
I own a 07 SS/SC and I've been looking around for some steelies and winter tires. Everyone I've talked to says I need to stick with the 215/45r18's on 18" rims or my computer, abs, and speedometer will be fucked up. Now I know the speedo is a no-brainer, but will using a smaller tire mess up my computer and abs, or anything else?
This is the first year I've had this car and I've always had all-seasons on my other cars.. I've never had to swap out for winter tires.
I would think having a 215 in the winter would ride the snow like a sled haha

as long as the overall diameter of the wheel and tire combination is the same you should be fine... tire rack hooked me up with 2 sets of 215/55/16 steelies and blizzak revo1's for my 2 ss's for this winter......

i have 16 inch steelies with 205/55/16 goodyear nordics.
as spd4lifess said, overall diameter of the tire is all that you need to worry about.
the extra rubber helps smooth out the ride, and they are alot cheaper than 18s

So should I be looking for a narrower rim than the stock 215 as well? **** I don't even know where to start looking. I live up in Canada and tire rack is gonna charge me about 175$ shipping, and then UPS is gonna rape me in customs charges..

Try a local tire shop or Canadian Tire. I believe Crappy Tire sells steelies in 5x110 and 16". Or you can try a junk yard for some old Pontiac G6 rims.
