I would have expected them to be heavier ...and I have read 25 lb's so your saving even more ... but I would go for something more sporitn ..like the concept rims that were on the CSS

Yes they look great on all of the cars that I have seen them on but they are not for performance. If you are a performance minded individual your best bet is to go with smaller tires and rims not larger. Yes you can get 30 series tires but like I said the overall diameter of the wheel makes a big difference. Also if you dont like your tread wear now see how good it is with 30 series. I had 20's on my last car looked great but the tread wear was terrible. Also the cracked in half when I hit a major pot hole. They were forged and giavanni if that is how you spell it very expensive. They sent me a new one for no cost and I sold them. I learned my lesson after replacing my whole front end. If you just drive your car around normally and want to show it off get the rims like I said these pics look great.
You could also say the smaller the rim may be overpowered as well. Then ask yourself why did the Cobalt SS/SC come stock with 18s with low profile tires instead of 17s? Looking at all of these measures can go on and on. But if you look at the higher profile exotics, most of them are running a larger rim with a low pro tire. I believe cornering ability also plays into it and weight plays it's part as well. Low pro will grant you better response in, and out of a turn. Don't get me wrong, a smaller wheel gets you benefits as well such as drag racing for instance. But for better feedback through the steering wheel and good track times, a low pro on a bigger rim is usually the choice. Depends on your personal taste and what you want. Looks, performance, looks and performance. It's all out there if you have the paper. Me? I prefer both looks and performance. I'm looking at purchasing some 19x8s in the summer.

are you sure about this? To me it would seem that larger wheels would decrease wheel spin and acceleration to due the added weight and diameter. A smaller wheel will be easier to turn, resulting in more wheel spin. Thats the way I see it anyway...

If a SS/SC can get crazy wheel spin on a set of heavy 18s I can't imagine what it'd do to a set of lightweight 16s.

ion put 16's on your redline and tell me your new eta....the reason why 18's were put on these cars is purley for looks not performance. This is why full slicks come on tiny little rims with big as side walls. As for the kumho's the wider the contact area the less burn your will get and less wheep hop. I know the overall diameter of the package will be the same but i am talking about the diameter of the wheel itself not the wheel plus the tire. This is information i am using from my buddy that owns budget tire. But like I said if you arent dragging then get 19's or 20's for that matter.. ION if you are willing to trade you can have my 18's ill take the 17's anyday.....

What are the tire sizes? 205/30/20? What Konigs are they? I would have bought the exact same with the same hood, only black. I know it's dark...she had the flash on outside. https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/sho...&searchid=1534

nice rear end.

And the tires and wheels on the red SS are nice as hell, wouldn't mind a set myself.

Those AT Italias I'm interested in are 29lbs!! They look good, but that is too much weight. I guess I'm going back to the "drawing" board.

Put 17s on your car with a 50 series tire and see if you can keep up with a Cobalt with stock 45 series 18s on a circuit that will not only beat you, but look good doing it as well. I'm not arguing with you, just stating facts.

If your refering to drag racing then yes, a smaller rim with big sidewalls will be the better choice because a 1/4 mile has no turns, you just need straight line traction.

I am not arguing that, what I am saying is that a larger wheel will be harder to spin due to its increased diameter and *possible* weight increase. A smaller wheel will take much less to get going, resulting in more power being able to be put down to the ground but will also be much easier to spin than a larger wheel.

There is no way that an SS/SC or RL will spin the stock wheel/tires MORE than a lightweight, smaller wheel.

I saw these rims on a TC. And the second I saw them, I fell in love with them. Those are a great choice of wheels. That looks great!
