i was able to find some slightly used Nitto 555R Extreme drag radials on some 17 inch SS/NA wheels for $120 plus my stock motor mount. i dont think you will find that kind of deal though.

depending on hp, the more you hook up the harder it is on axles.

He's implying that once you get a bunch of traction with the drag radials, the axles will be the next weak link. It might be true, but we really don't know yet. Generally though, it you hammer on a car long enough at the drag strip, something is bound to break.

If you launch correctly, do correct burn outs, and NO what to listen, and feel for. You won't snap axles.

Now if you do not KNOW how to do these... then I would strongly suggest against them!

Most slicks are bias (although there are some radial slicks available nowadays). It's not good to mix bias and radials. Modern drag radials have come a long way. They work pretty well and if you want to run in some street legal drag race events, then a DOT drag radial are allowed.

Boostking has a pair of drag radials for sale in the parts for sale section (I don't know anything about them though).

I have Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials on my GTO and they work great. Those and Hoosier DOT drag radials are probably tied for first place. BFG is probably a close second and then followed by Nitto NT555R. I doubt you'll find many that will fit our 18" wheels though. The M/T 240-40-18 are one of the exceptions and it'll be a little tight. If you can find a pair of 17" wheels that will fit, you'll have a lot more choices.

My wheels on the GTO? They are SSR Type C 17X8 on front and 17X9 on back. The M/T drag radials are 275-40-17. The wheels were expensive, but are super light.

If you mean on my Cobalt SS, those are the stock wheels and tires.
