A Good List Of Winter Tires For Our Loved SS

Many of us (including me) are going back and forth figuring out is they should switch to winter tires or not, good brands, sizes, and which is the most convenience price. Personally I am buying next week either the Pirelli 240 Sottozero or the Bridgestone Blizzak WS70.
To help everybody, here I made a list of all the available winter tires (for what I could find) on the market of sizes 225, 235 and 245 with /40 shoulder. I don't know if you wanna look also for other shoulder sizes.
Basically they are links only for information purposes, you may find better prices on other sites.
I hope this can help somebody.

The link for the WS 70 Blizzaks are for a 225 45 18. That will throw off the speedo unless you re calibrate for them.

I have the LM 60 Blizzaks and they are great. They are in 225 40 18.

What aboutn those Continental for $ 185.00 for 2? I want to buy them, but I'm afraid there is something wrong for that price

For winter tires u want a narrower tire not a fatter tire. Helps cut thru snow easier... I wouldnt recommend running a 235 or 245. Ive got dunlop Wintersports 3D in a 205 width and they are amazing

It may not throw your speed it depends on the what year Cobalt and Diameter of the Tire on that car. Look at the original tires on the car and find out the tires diameter.

Example ss/sc stock tire Pirelli 215-45-18 diameter is 25.7"
Bridgestone lm-60 225-45-18 is 25.9"
Bridgestone lm-60 225-40-18 is 25.1"

The 225-40-18 are farther from stock size by over 1/2 an inch where the 225-45-18 are less than a 1/4 inch from stock.

So 225-45-18 will not through your speedo of if anything the 225-40-18 would be off.

To many think that because the SS/TC has 225-40-18 that it is right size for an SS/SC.

I am running 205/60/16 on my sc. Narrower tires bite into the snow better and 16 tires and rims are much cheaper than 18's

use this to compare tire diameter

I just got a set of General Altimax Arctic 205/55R16

They are as good a tire as the Michelin X-Ice xi2, but rated even better in the snow categories and the ice category

Anyone using the Yokohama W.drive in 225/45R18? Was gonna order them off discount tire direct since its the only one I can find to work on ss/sc wheels.
