High Performance at Low Cost
They are called Yokohama S Drives.
Yokohama is coming out with some new sticky rubber. A performance tire which has the same technology as their UHPT (ultra high performance tire) but at a fraction of the cost ($60 less than their top end tires with the same technology). Compared to the Pirelli P Zero Rossi's they are 30-50% less expensive, and compared to the Michelin's Pilot Sport Ps2's 50% less
.
Speed Ratings of V (240km/hr), W (270km/hr), or for those of you with Stage II a cool Y rating (300km/hr)
. I will be buying these myself as their durability rating is 300 (high for a performance tire) and these Pirelli's only lasted me two summers ~

They look pretty sweet, how much do they cost? I cant find a place that sells them. I just bought some Federal SS595's yesterday($780), seem pretty good so far... My Pirelli's only lasted me half a summer, about 9000km....lol my last set of Yokohama AVS Winter tires lasted about 27000km though......

No, not quite yet. Call your nearest Yokohama dealer and they can tell you when. I'm sure I can answer any questions about the tire, just not the exact price or selling date because that differs from state to state (and Cda/US)
They ARE a sweet looking tire! I like the look of the solid centre rib (giving you more straight line stability which I find we need when gunning it and it also helps with uneven wear). They also have grooves within the "edges" of the grooves, stabilizing the tread blocks (which contribute to better cornering and WE ALL WANT THAT
). Looks like a very promising tire to me. I've heard good things also about the SS595's - I'm sure you'll like them. These are just made with different compounds. To each their own regarding tires, we all have our preferences. I paid $900 for my UHP winter tires, where most wouldn't bother spending the money.
Blizzaks......but not average run of the mill Blizzaks! LM25's. Low-profile, they are a very sticky tire for winter, so great for cornering on dry days. Sacrifice a little with ice performance but better in slush. Since Ottawa gets more slush/crap than snow/ice it would be a good tire for around here. And they were great. The regular Blizzaks for snow are better in heavy snow than these, but I wanted a performance winter for the dry days
and we don't get that much heavy snow anyhow. Soooooo, try them next time!
