OK! So I just got of the phone with King at Enkei. Looks like the same thing as the PF01's. King told me he was truly impressed, and so were the people that make the decissions, by the number of emaills he received last year asking for a wheel for the Cobalt. There's some good news and some bad. First the good. Due to it's overwhelming popularity Enkei will be releasing additional sizes for the PF01 and MAYBE some more colors. In the planning stages is a 17X9 wheel. Just like it happened with the PF01, applications are NOT engraved in granite. Applications are being evaluated by current use of existing wheels and demand. This process INCLUDES the 5X110. NOTHING is engraved in granite. NOTHING! Got that? Whatever comes of this will be in the 2011 rollout of new model wheels which usually happens at the SEMA show in October/November. That's when they showed the PF01, but I didn't get mine till Feb.
Now the bad news. Due to the demise of the Cobalt, and the bolt pattern that went with it, this will probably will our last chance for a new wheel from Enkei. Or anybody else for that matter. BUT! He said the support from the people here on our forum got it done once and there's no reason to think it can't be done again.
Another possibility would be a commitment from SOMEBODY, and that includes individuals, and/or wholesalers ,like Tirerack and Discount tire, for 50 to 60 wheels total orders they would build (size) a 17x9 for us. The best way to do this is to contact somebody/anybody, in management positions, at these companies to put in requests. This would also work for getting a PF01 in other colors. It's worth a try. The same email campaign we did for Enkei could work for these guys too.
Due to all the controversy over spacers I also asked somebody that sells wheels to some very successful racers and builders, about their use. The pulses AND the minuses. It is ENKEIS opinion that spacers are safe with THEIR race series wheels. He gave me some examples but without recording the conversation don't expect this old memory to work all that well. He mentioned Evo's, 350Z's, Lotus and others that use spacers on ocassion. He spoke ONLY about ENKEI wheels as he can't vouch for other street wheels on the open market. And I can respect that. He also mentioned wheel inserts. If they are done RIGHT he thinks they are relatively safe. He said a lot of people use them but would not say any more. And we talked about drilling hubs for a different pattern. It's done quite often but wouldn't offer much in the way of comments. Just thought I'd throw that stuff out there. It's food for thought.
He asked me to thank everybody that took the time to send emails last year. He kept every one of them so he knows who you are. He really is a nice guy that wants to help the performance community.
Let's flood his email box again! It worked last time.
I hate like hell to even post this knowing full well the people that will flame and distort the message, but like I said, it's very possible that some of the same people that attacked me last year now have some VERY popular PF01 wheels on their car. You're welcome!

I didn't ask him. We were talking about so many things I never thought to ask him. But he did talk about the end of the 5X110. Maybe somebody on the forum knows somebody that knows somebody, and so forth, that can answer that question. It would be nice to know. Would give me an excuse to call to King again.
