Latest & Greatest Thoughts on Goodyear Eagle GT's, Please !

I've read through the search results, and I am not seeing a lot of direct info/threads regarding this tire.
Goodyear Eagle GT's
I am thinking about switching to these from the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's I have for 1 reason - a rim protector.
Michelins do not have them, and I had some Continental Extreme DW's brought in which are supposed to have them - they did not.
I know - I saw one mounted last night. I was terribly disappointed.
The Michelins handle the Stage 1 torque if the weather is say 60 F & above, and are a bit less in cornering grip (IMHO) than the OEM Conti Sport Contact 2.
The Discount guy seems to think these will be better handling than some of my other options, but neither of us is sure on the straight line grip side of things.
Any thoughts from previous users ? When mounted, is the tread pattern somewhat hidden ? It is fuuuuuuuuuuugggly to my eyes !

The Eagle GT is not bad for an all season tire, but would not be as sticky as the PS2 or most "summer compound" tires in warm weather. If you are looking for better grip in cold temperatures then an all seasons will help for those conditions (but at the expense of grip near the limit of the car)
IMO rim protectors can only help if you happen to barely brush the curb while travelling perfectly parallel to it. If you are at any kind of angle or hit even a little hard, no curb protector out there will save your bacon.

Tires w/ rim protection = cheaper than a new wheel.

i got these tires as mainly a summer tire since i have dedicated winter tires but they did see a little snow action before i could swap everything out at thanksgiving. instead of a 195 (im an LS) i went up to a 205 and i gotta say i was pretty impressed. they handled everything i threw at them all summer from daily driving to spirited driving and they never once wanted to squeal around corners or break loose or even hydroplane in heavy rain. overall i think they're a nice tire for the price
