all i have is the coilovers and rack spacers, no other suspension mods other than Moog FE5 shortened sway bar end links. i get vibes if i kill it in first gear or slam through the gears getting on the highway but that's only when i feel it, and no noticeable bump steer either.

summer pic...

now in winter mode...

*Just realized it won't allow stretching a tire on here...

Even with a 9 it's only sticking out 1.1" more. Seems more drastic from what everyone is saying with a 9.75, even a 9.5. lol

Even only 1.3" with a 9.5

May be a dumb question but is the wheel well the same size from an LT Sedan compared to an SS?

No camber plates on the rear so I can't VIP the **** out of it?

Going back to reality, am I stepping back outside of it to think I'll go this low?

yea the black is growing on my more and more, throwing around the idea of getting new summer wheels come spring but there's a lot of variables, like whether or not i get a new job, if this is my work car and how far the drive is, etc.

and i'm really digging these, either in chromium black like the pic or just straight black

That "VIP" status is huge over across seas, there's no point to it other than bringing your body mm's away from dragging since Japan's roads are near perfect.

I like the flush look but the cobalt wheel wells don't seem to be deep enough from the coil to the fender to run a really wide wheel without a little poke and I'm a sucker for deep dish, wide wheels over the fact that I'm a hellaflush type of guy.

Is that second picture a possibility as far as drop (hard to compare different suspension setups and body types) but would that give me crazy axle bind if I was low as the car in the picture?

And would a +20 offset clear the regular base model brakes?

Don't forget, there are other cheaper, and more reliable cars, than can be easily stanced out, other than a Cobalt. I don't think I could go back to a base model after owning an SS.

Please fill me in. Every car worth looking at to stance out either has 130k+ miles on it and rusted to **** or too expensive cause they're the few that were babied.

STi's and Evos are way too price, 240s, 300zs, 350/370z, S2000, Civics are a dime a dozen, old BMW's aren't reliable, VW's are through the roof in pricing, Audi's are expensive to fix.

I'm ok with not having a fast car now, they come and they go. Once I get through school and get a real job I'm going to build my own cars up so I'm patient enough to wait a few to get something worth while again.

I just thought it'd be a fun and cheaper project then dropping 5-10 grand into a car with a shitty transmission that'd I'd be replacing quite often, or so it seems due to my luck. lol

I'm not one to go out and be different or rebellious just cause every kid has the same wheels and I don't roll with societies norm. I don't get all bent out of shape over that stuff, but I think it'd be neat to go way low with a Cobalt even if it requires a lot of my own modification.

Same here. What I can say about the question of the OP, the SS looks like the sedan of the first pic by putting 1" spacers which are available on ebay, keeping the stock rims.
So I would say, if I had a LS I would get 1" spacers and buy a set of 18x8 with 235/40s.
As far as lowering, I don't know since I have no clue about the base model's suspensions, but even if you lower it by 2", with that setup wheels the car would still look great.

I do want to build something that looks great but obviously my work and my ideas (goes without saying). One thing I am not keen on is running spacers wider than 5-10mm, I'm a sucker for wide wheels. lol I know poke is hit or miss with people, personally I love a little poke. If I'm not mistaken I thought i had read Jooky is running 17x8.25's. I was considering going 18's with quite a bit of stretch as well as a 9.75 wide wheel but upon finding the pictures of Randy's N/A SS Sedan below I realized if I run a 17x9.75 XXR 527 +25 I can get the wheels sooner since they come in 4x100, skip having new hubs put on and just go straight to coils and the wheels until I can afford to do a whole FE1 to FE5 suspension swap or just changing my axles and knuckles to the upgraded TC stuff. (Unless maybe I can swipe the old stuff off of my car if I find out where it goes to?) PLUS... it'll sit lower with a 17" than an 18". I do want to run 17x9.75 in the rear though and 17x8.25 in the front, unless I decide to do 9.75 all the way around.

not too bad for a sedan. haha. They can go about 1.5-2 inches lower but im getting some pretty bad axle bind so ill stay like this for a while.

Jookys car looks good, esp for a base model.

id say go for it. there are much more knowledgeable people than I that can be more help with this, hope they see it and chime in!
Depending on how much the buy back is if it totals I'm debating on doing this but I can't drain my bank just for a suspension setup. i was also considering finding out if it were to go to a junk yard and I could just pull some of the stuff I needed and buy it off of them. Not sure how that works but.

i had a dish on my old car rims, not too deep tho. i think anything clears base brakes they are just standard one piston calipers.

idk if this picture is a good look at them, but this was on SS springs no spacers i think they were 9 inch deep

They are not just spacers, they are adapters, they bolt on your hub and then they have 5 studs built on it. Here they are
4 Billet Wheel Adapters 5x110 to 5x110 1 00" Spacers 5 Lug | eBay

I'd have to downsize my wheel by at least an inch then

XXR make their 527 in a 17x9.75 with a 4x100 pattern! (If the one Cobalt I buy has a 4 lug that is) I think when the time comes I'm going to pick me up a set of 17's instead of the 18's like I had intended. It'll sit lower and allow me to get the wheels without a hub swap. If I eventually feel the need to go bigger I'll probably just spend the money to do a swap. I just definitely want to have two sets of wheels ready when winter rolls around, even being dirt cheap rims I wouldn't want to rock a stretched tire across a 9.75 wide rim. LOL

Are you stretching a 215 over a 9.75 wide? :P I'd have thought that would make driving hell in the winter but I've never even driven a car with a lot of stretch.
Do you experience any problems gripping to the road when it's wet or snowy? The stretch doesn't mess with with anything like that does it?
