Low offset wheels. Question.
Low offset wheels. Question.
Ok I found some amazing wheels that are a once in a lifetime find in the 5x110 lug pattern. There is one problem though. The offsets of the wheels. The front wheels are 18x8.5 with a +30 offset. The rears are 18x9.5 with a +20 offset. Yes they are staggered and if you don't like that its your opinion but that is not the discussion at hand.
Ok, on many other car platforms they run a plethora of offsets. Take for example the s2000 guys run anything from 35-50. I'm just wondering if I can run as low as 20 on the balt in the rear? I know I will have to roll my fenders and the car will be slammed on coilovers. Ive seen a civic on 0 offset wheels why cant a balt be on 20? Granted the 0 offset wheels didn't look great on the civic it still fit.
Can anyone point out any problems Id run into?
Please don't turn this into a bashing thread or whether you like low offset wheels thread. I'm just asking for an answer to a question. Not looking for opinions. You can tell me how much you hate it if I get them
Thanks in advance.

It all depends whether the rims stick out past the fenders or not, I would assume low 30's would be nearly flush with the fenders. You would have to run stretched tires if you wanted to drive without constant rub.
But if I have to pass on these wheels I have found another route too go thanks to your wobble bolts thread.
I don't know if I wanna post them yet because someone might scoop them up before I do. Lets just brand new these wheels are around atleast $2500 and I have never ever seen them in 5x110 because its a Japanese wheels.
Now that you talk about it I know exactly which wheels you are looking at. If I am right they are bronze correct?
Stock wheels: 7" wide/42mm offset. 42mm=1.65". 3.5"-1.65"=1.85" (distance of wheel face off the hub)
9.5" wide/20mm offset. 20mm=0.79". 4.75"-0.79"=3.96"-1.85"=2.11"
Those 18"x9.5" wheels with +20 offset will stick out 2.11" further than the stockers! I don't think so bud! lol

Also the stock wheels are nowhere near flush with the body. Especially in the rear.
There is another thing worrying me though. If you look at the pic of the wheels the stickers inside of the wheels which show the specs are bothering me. The 18x9.5 stickers look fine and clearly say 5x110 but the 18x8.5s look like it says 5x100 and that the first 0 was scratched off. I think I'm going to pass and play it safe. I have some other wheels in mind anyway.
yea, 30 and 20, will stick out past the fender and imo woudnt look good. Im running 35's and those are pretty close, i think around 32 would be flush with the fender and that would still rub a bit unles you roll your fenders
Yeah but look at the sticker on the 18x8.5 where the PCD(bolt pattern) is. It looks like its says 100 and the middle zero was kinda scratched off. The 18x9.5 wheels look fine but the the other one is a little sketchy and the fact that these wheels are not made in 5x110 buy Work makes me even sketchier.
Ehh you guys aren't realizing that this is milimeters its not going to stick out too much and if you camber the wheel a little bit it will be fine. Rolling fenders is a given with anything this low.

They really are good looking rims, from a brand name that carries a lot of weight.

Dare to dream. I doubt any Cobalt owner is enthusiastic enough to make it work (no pun intended).

Ok What does everyone think of wheels that are 17x9.5 56mm (7.4" backspacing)? I will have a 25mm adapter so the offset will be 31 all around. I think its going to work perfect but Id like to see what everyone else thinks.
At 56mm offset, you lose 46mm(1.81 inches) between the rim and strut.
At 56mm offset, the wheel sticks out 18mm(0.71 inches) more.
At 31mm offset, you lose 21mm(0.83 inches) between the rim and strut.
At 31mm offset, the wheel sticks out 43mm(1.69 inches) more.
You figure it out from that if they'll fit.
