Mustang Wheels on a Cobalt??

My buddy is buying rims for his mustang, and said he would GIVE me his stock wheels if I could find a way of making them fit on my car. Well I found a conversion for about $150.*EDIT: $115 SHIPPED* (even better) My main question is would the spacers throw off the offset? His wheels are 16's also so I gain an inch. And I could switch out the center caps and put bowties (His ovals already fell off the caps lol)

His wheels are like the ones on this mustang:

Just an idea. Free wheels, had to at very least entertain the idea.

theres people on ebay who sell spacers that can also be used to bolt on more popular bolt patterns.

With that said still have to ask why? Also isnt that tire a bit too tall for an LS/LT? or hell any cobalt?

Cause they would be FREE. ha

well, they are only 16's so they arent too big of a rim. But, I was going to put 215/60R16 to help shorten that out.

well you can only do so much with tire size. i'm going to take a guess though and say its a 16x7. cause the 18x7's on the lsj's came with a 215 tire.

Thats part of the point! Not so much that I LOVE the look. But for free? plus, how unique.

They cant be TOO big, cause its only a 16in rim to start with. I still need to look into officially fitting and all, just got the offer the other day and thought I would look into it.

i would bet its a 7" wide wheel. and the smaller the wheel has nothing to do with the width haha. most people at the track i'm at run a wheel wider than it is tall.

make sure your conversion kit takes into account that, stock, you have 4 lug nuts, while the mustang has 5. one of those things that may be overlooked until the last second. lol.

True. Well the spacer would move the wheel out an inch. In theory it sounds good to me.. ha But i need to find more out.

Why on gods earth would you want to...

For one 5x110 is our bolt pattern not 5x114... secondly the RWD spacing will not work on your FWD car.

And lastly: They are hideous!

For one, I know that I have an LS. I can get a conversion adaptor kit for $120. secondly They would be FREE. Lastly they may not be beautiful, but uniqueness counts too. Plus, did I mention free? ha.

I didn't read the thread, but what I say is take his wheels that he'll give you and try to sell them for $200 or so, take the money and put it towards a set of used wheels that will fit your car without modification to anything.

Adapters also arent the safest thing to run and add added stress to other components. If you want to do it go for it. But honestly you will probably be slower from the added weight and that tire size is too large for a cobalt.

Those tires will throw off your speedometer 6.9 miles per hour. Plus the stock tire diameter on the factory size is 24.2 and the mustangs size is 27.0.
Thats really changing a lot. At minimum youd need new tires thats a very unacceptable size for your car unless you want to look like a true 4x4!

Yeah, 205/55 or 225/50 are the biggest you'll want for a 16" wheel...
