Need help regarding Winter Tires...

OK. My car is a 2006 Pontiac Pursuit GT.

I need winter tires. These Pirelli PZero's are easily the worst tires I have ever used. They are OK in summer, worthless in wet and absolute murder in the snow.

So I was looking at getting Nokian WR's to replace them. To get them on my Pursuit they are $220/tire CDN. Ouch.

So I guess I need to buy steelies and get real winter tires. How small of a steelie can I go? 16" I would guess is the smallest I can do...what size of tire would I need then?

Check out www.tirerack.com they will give you just about all the options you have, the easiest way it to just use the winter tire & wheel package tool, I believe they also have shipping to Canada, but it will probably still be cheaper to get them from a canadian store and just use them as a shopping guide.

wow, world's worst run-on sentence, lol.

Tire rack has 16" steelies and Dunlop M3's MOUNTED for $680 shipped. Beats paying 800+ just for 18" snow tires for the stock rims.

Hey guys, my name's Tom. I hope there's no rules on here about newbs posting in a certain area for a certain time first that I'm breaking, but I saw this topic and felt I should add my experience with tirerack.com so you guys know what to expect shipping to Canada.

I just ordered some 16" steelies and Blizzak WS-50's from tire rack for my 2006 Pursuit GT. Total was $680 or whatever US.

Shipping: + $164 US
UPS brokerage fee: +$217 CDN cash on delivery.

So my great deal on tires ended up being around 1100-1200 CDN dollars by the time all was said and done.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking tire rack. The tires and rims look great, they balanced and mounted them excellently, and they had the directionality of the tires good (ie. 2 one way 2 the other)

I just wanted to make sure no one else has the same surprise as I did.

Tom

You're going to have the same 5x110 wheel problem the rest of us had. I had enough trouble getting the right steelies from my Stealership, let alone through a Walmart.

Check the sticky thread for all the info you should need.
