225/45/18, 235/40/18, or the stock 215/45/18 will work. The 235's are stretching it thought.

I'm currently rocking 235/45/17 Toyo T1R's on my custom Rota's and love them. I hook up at the track when I used to spin, I hook up on the street where I used to spin even worse, and they were freakin awesome in the rain today as it poured all day. With a fairly low price, 280 treadwear rating, and the performance they put out they are the best damn set of tires I've ever run on period. Took a chance, and they turned out great!

I've had BFG KDW's before and those were pretty damn good as well, but I have a new favorite tire now.

For an all season tire, i had pirelli p-zero nero's on a past vehicle, and they were alright in the snow, but ive never had any other tires in the snow, till the rosos. They are WAY better than the rosos, but thats all i can compare them to.

So any shop could install the 225/45-18's on my stock rims, no problem?

Toyo does make the T1R in 225/45/18. Here is the link below for probably the best price on the internet. They are a little more expensive for the 18's than they were for my 17's. The 280 treadwear rating means they should last quite a while as well.

I'm not sure on an all season tire chipmonk. I'm stationed in the south so I rock summer tires all year long.

I'm going to get the General Exclaims UHP in 225/40/18. I think thats a good all around tire and they are a fair price too. Tirerack rates them very high.

Parada spec 2 yokohama, or , Falken Azenis 225/40/18. That would be my choice. The Toyo T1-r's are good, but traction wyse, a little inferior to the two mentioned above. If price is totally not a factor, michelin pilot sport aalllll day long babY!

I just bought some rims that are 18x7.5. I think that some 235/40/18 tires will fit well, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether some 245/40's would fit?

well my quest for researching a new tire to buy has just been made for me. I had a nail in my tire and this morning the tire finally went flat. I am going to go to discount tire and tell em to match the online price for tirerack.com but I still have to wait an hour for them to open the tires im getting are the General Exlaim UHP's

my buddy who has a 3 series loves the General's tires which is the only reason why I heard of em. Was there a reason that dude didn't like em or was he just blaming the tires for his results in the auto x?

NOBODY can say **** about the michelin Pilot sport. They wear fast, expensive, but if money isnt a factor like you say, they are AWESOME. If its good enough for a viper, its good enough for a cobalt. Those are the tires they had one the SRT-4 at the begining and they were running faster times with them compared to when dodge switched to the KDW bridgestones!! Ask anyone who knows anything about SRT-4's and they will confirm!

well I got the generals and I must say they are quite a different tire than the rosso's. for one and this can be noticed right away, they are quieter much quieter. They are still new and the weather doesn't really permit a hard pull from a stop without spinning the tires but they already appear to be winning in this category cus I tried a few times and I can go harder before they break loose in first which was something I couldn't do in the rosso's and they catch right away after spinning 2nd.

I haven't tried too many quick turns cus traffic was bad so I will try and find a good back road to test em on but they seem to do a decent job here with what I was able to do. Something that some might not like is that while the sidewall does have tread like the rosso's it isn't as linear as it blends in which gets style points but I think it reduces cornering ability so auto x'ers may not like em but you should have a seperate set for auto x anyway.

So far I like em a lot and for 95 bucks a tire installed no tax you can't really beat em. They are rare tires and most retailers don't carry them so if you try em for yourself order them from tire rack and get a local shop to install them.

Oh and there is no tram lining that I can see as I took some roads that would make the pirreli tires go all over the place and these things handled those roads with no issue

edit: more testing as I drove to work and now that I have over 50 miles on em they are starting to show their real performance. They are gripping very well and straight line accell is better than I thought it was going to be after putting only a few miles on em. There are some really crappy roads leading to work and I go on the freeway as well. Sudden lane changes show no signs of sluggish response and stability is very high without being too sharp or float like

There's a lot of good info in this thread, basically I've been able to narrow down my choices for when I need to replace my stockers (which will be soon).

Onimirage, glad to hear about the general tires, I'm getting mine in about 2 weeks. Did you go with the 225/40/18 size? Also I checked your sig, but doesn't say you are lowered, just wondering how they fill up the wheel well? Please post some pics if possible, that would be great. Thanks!

actually he was a very good driver.... the tires seemed like they never hooked up.... he was sliding all over the place

I hope you are able to get traction with them..... good luck!!! I'll be looking forward to your real world feedback!!!!

Well I was looking for cost savings, a higher tread wear and a nice design. So I bought the Kumho Ecsta SPTS 225/45/18. They have a larger contact patch and bite down much harder than the others did. Now I can launch at 2600 - 3 grand . However they break traction on cold streets much easier than the pirrelli's did. When they are warm though they are great. They also have an awesome treadware rating of 300 as opposed to the 110 i think the pirrelli's are. $100 a piece.
