if I went with the 225/40 tires couldnt I just go get the ecu recalibrated?

 

I think Iam going to get teh bridgstone KDW's. I beleive in "you get waht you pay for". Bridgstone has been around forever and are well known. Where the reputation of kumho, well speaks for itself. I also am considering toyo proxes.

yeah i know, I just went on looks and what not since it seems no one can really agree on a good tire. I was also looking at Bf's Gforce ta KD. They talk about it like its a better dry tire. I mean i can slow down in the rain, but i want dry performance. Does a 225/40 tire be alot smaller than a 215/45. I mean 40% of 225 should be close to 45% of 215 wouldnt it??

 

its a slightly wider track but also slightly smaller tire height but this is realllllly slight im not sure of height measurements but a 215 to 225 is only 1/4" wider. i think that tom is right that the difference is so small it would only be roughly ~1mph difference in presented speed. in reality a smaller tire may save your ass from a ticket LOL

 

haha talk to me about saving tickets. I bought the damn wrong size winter tire for my 16' rims. I am driving like 65 on the speedo and in reality with my dad's gps it says iam driving like 60. The winter tires lowered my car almost an inch. Talk about a pain in the behind. Anwyays running those tires for this winter, then its new tires for sure one size taller!

 

The 1/4 inch wider track, would that helo with wheel hop, or make it worst. I know more traction, but it could mean more violent wheel hop couldnt it?? My winter tires (narrower) doesnt wheel hope at all, it just plain spins. And would the wider tire hurt like rolling starts alot since its wider.. = more wheel mass and more road resistance due to it being wider.

 

a wider track would actually help because you have more traction to work with so more contact area to go through until the tire breaks loose. the thing is the pirelli rubber while great for some things like turns at high speeds or sudden turns is this cars downfall for accelleration. this is why alot of people go to different brands once the pirreli's are worn down. the deal now is to find the right kind of tire that will spin rather than break lose causing us to hop around
