Thanks. I am going with the same wheel.
May be a close up from the front showing the fender and the tire? How close is the inside tire wall to the damper?
245 looks a bit too wide, looks like it will hit the fender.

Haha, yep, i get that extra thousand in feb. march, and april. plus i have no bills as the car was paid off in early december. I'm single, so after a certain deduction for savings, you know where my money is going! haha
The inside of the tire is about 1/2 inch from the damper/strut. I worried about that as well. So I ordered from tire rack via my local discount tire. They ordered the rims, no charge, test fit them and once we verified the tires/rims would fit they mounted everything up. I didn't want to drive home on those R1s, but I could have.
After mounting the tire we did full lock-2-lock on the steering. I never got out and checked but the tech said it was close. The tire does not rub any parts while mounted. It's possible the fender, etc could rub the tire under aggressive driving -- but I doubt it. And by doubt, I mean hope :-)
Take a look at this thread and read their comments on 245/40. Keep in mind that the 245 on DOT R-Compound rubber is a bit wider than street/high performance tires.

Thanks for the comments. I'm loving the rims, just need to get them, tires and car cleaned up for pics :-)

Probably something that utilizes the information in slide six from the presentation in the above thread :-)
Specifically - NLS, no lift shift :-)
- Intended for drag strip, race track or other competitive driving usage where a performance advantage is realized on every up-shift due to the lack of delay in torque response after shift
- Acceleration is improved 0.07 seconds per shift

1) install them stock first, you'll be fine up to 245/40 R18
2) you don't need 12.7mm spacer. I would say 10mm would be more than enough.
As for the lugs, definitely get something darker if you don't want that peened look in the middle. The wheels come with lugs, but they are pretty much like the stockers. Discount tire gave me some lugs, so now I have
1) lugs with the car
2) lugs with the wheels
3) lugs from discount tire
4) open lugs I bought
PHEW - I'm lugging around all this crap - LOL.
You'll love the wheels, I know I do.

I love these wheels and they are pretty light weight compared to most. Do they require spacers or is that mainly for use with the wide tires? If you use 225-40-18 or 235-40-18 tires, can you run them with no spacer on the SS/TC?
BFG. It can be seen clearly in the pics.
They will fit fine without spacers. 245's will probably rub just a little though. 225's or 235's will be fine.

Okay I can do a front shot tomorrow after I get the eibach bolts installed.

Yah or something :-) Those tires are bad ass and they were cheap - 16 for $1000 and they have lots of life left on them. I bought all the guy had...

as batboy said these are the BFG R1s DOT (barely legal) road racing tire. These will have a wider stance than most street tires with 245's. There is 1/2-3/4 inch clearance on the inside of the tire at the top of the strut. With "street" tires that should go to 1" - this is due to the OZ wheel offset pushing the tire out just a bit to get clearance, in my opinion.
I can drive it on the street, but just to a show or to get gas - these would suck on the highway :-) they'd get buttery and if it rained - forget it - you are done. These are strictly for spanking the car and enjoying the work by "GM Performance Division" as clearly labeled on the car's engine bay :-)
JK
ahhh, thank you - ahh thank you very much.
the DOT-R 245's are CLOSE to the struet 1/2", a 235 on these would be sick or FTW or whatever you 20 year olds say these days.
JK
my advice on these wheels (OZ Ultraleggera's 18x8 5x110, +38mm offset, 6.06" backspacing, 18.5lbs)
street tires
w/225's - no spacers
w/235's - no spacers
w/245's - no spacers
w/255's - 10 mm spacer
w/265's - 20 mm spacer
w/275's - WTF?
DOT R- Compound
w/225's - no spacers
w/235's - no spacers
w/245's - no or 10mm spacer, depends on tire
w/255's - 10 mm spacer
w/265's - 20 mm spacer
w/275's - huh?, wtf?
That's my story and I'm sticking too it. The width of the tire will also be affected by your camber settings if you use cam bolts. I added cam bolt and it brought the tire in about 1/4" of an inch - so it's really close to the strut at this point.

I'm watching to see if I get any rub on the inside, but there is plenty of clearance between the front of the tire and rear of the tire.
