Sweet wheels...I've been looking at these for over a year now.
sure I barely got these. I was working against the daylight. I changed out the pad's too and put in some cobalt xr2's up front.

Oh I have no issues with the rear brake pads, etc like some other's have posted. Mine are wearing fine.

I also have this one - just snapped these real quick.

You won't regret having these - I'm loving them already. I think the tire is heavier than the rim...lol

nice choice, I tried getting those rpf1's for the cobalt - but no luck. They didn't have them.

Apparently on the cobalt ss time attack, they traded out the wheel hub for some 5x114.3's

It looks like you have more camber on the passenger side.

yah, that's the picture/car.

the numbers don't lie -1.3 on the passenger and -1.6 on the driver side.

I put the car under heavy stress on both left and right turns. I was most concerned about on-camber left hand turns. I had several at this track:

http://www.msrhouston.com/msrhouston/trackmap.asp

Turn 5
Turn 7
Turn 11 put quite a bit of pressure on the wheels in the direction where I have the least tolerance between the rim and the strut. No rubbing.

This setup is perfect for this car. I may put the mud flaps on the car - LOL.

My best time was a 1:51.57 on this track @ 2.38 miles avg speed 77.5mph

How are the brakes holding up with R compound, notice any brake fade or soft pedal? If no, are you using stock fluid/pad/rotor.

Thanks for your input.

the pedal get's deep, but not soft, the brakes are cooling fine

when I bought the car I put in the last of my Castrol SRF - I had that from my Vette. I never had fade on street tires. Everyone else should get DOT 4, Motul 600 - something inexpensive but high boiling point.

I have no plans on buying expensive rotors i.e. two piece.

stock pads are nice, but I had them half baked after two track weekends. I figure the stock pads are good for three events and some town driving.

I need to bleed my brakes for a solid pedal, but I need more SRF to do that and I'm debating... :-)

I'm running Cobalt Friction XR2 pads and there is plenty of brake and lot's of tire left on the car.

Forgot to ask, so no problem with fender/tire rubbing?

Yeah SRF is probably the best dot 4 money can buy at a baller price...lol; Motul 600 is a more economical choice. But given the wider R's you are using and friction pad, SRF should guarantee problem free runs.

Floating rotors will aid in cooling and save you a bit on unsprung. It might be a good upgrade for you, since you've done and probably will do more track days, when the time comes to replace the rotors.

I can't wait to bring my car out, but that won't happen until April for us northeaster's.

Yah, I will explore rotor options next - trying to keep the costs low with maximum return.

Here is the passenger rear side wheel well. The driver side rear has some rub, but it's less pronounced - it's not on the plastic, just rubbing some bonding agent from what I can see.

Frankly, I never looked here as the wheels don't rub there when the car is in motion. What I know is that most of my turns were left (counter clockwise track direction) so I suspect the tire got pushed in. What would help is to shim the rear wheel hub so I get more toe out. I was surprised to see the wheel moved this much.

again this rubbing is only on the rear wheel under heavy right and left turn loads, no issues on the front.

I don't think a spacer would help with this.

Good to know. Looks like 235 should have no issue.

correct, under load a 235 wouldn't do that.

However, I also doubt a street tire at 245 would do that. As I look at the tire and the rub, I'm starting to think it's actually "marbles" from the track and not actual tire rub. I need to spend a bit more time looking at it when I get it back from the dealership. Check engine light came on and it was due to a mis-fire at full acceleration...maybe under NLS.

i'm not sure if the TC has a revised TWB, but it's not reccomended to shim the hub. I'm sure you could get away from it, but the mounting location isn't the strongest setup. If you really want to do it, get ahold of Qwikredline, and discuss this with him. He ought to be able to point you in the right direction.

Wheels and tires look great, its an awesome thing to be able to say your track tires weigh more than the wheels.

Thanks, what is the TWB? I looked at the wheel hub, it's held on by three bolts - so it's pretty much the same as the front end on my vette, except they look like class 10 bolts. I'd replace them with grade 8 bolts for more tinsel strength back there.

I just got the car back today; running fine - need to look a the rubbing again with the oz wheels on. Like I said, I don't think the rubber is rubbing, but we'll see.

Just to confirm...these OZ wheels are fine on the SS/TC with no spacers (with OEM tire size...225 40 18)? Lets just say this winter has not been good to my OEM wheels...I have all seasons on them...looking for a set of summer wheels and have been IN LOVE with these since I saw them. I've been trying to find someone that can confirm they work fine on our cars with no spacers before I ordered them...

Yes, I think it will work with stock size tires (and probably 235/40's) in a stock trim SS/TC with no clearance issue.

If you are not ordering from Tirerack, I would get the wheel spec form jkonkle so you can order wheel with the exact same spec. Those are $350 a pop, if you don't mind the price and could use a lighter wheel; Otherwise there are alternatives at a cheaper price.

I was mostly concerned with the clearance with the brakes...it has been very hard to find after market wheels for the SS/TC because of the Brembos and I'm not keen on the idea of spacers.

If I end up going after market, these are really the wheels I would want. I just want to make sure they clear the brakes without spacers.

Thanks for the input!...and the OEM tire size on the SS/TC is 225/40...just an FYI...

jkonkle tracked those wheels I think once or twice. If there are any issues I am sure we would hear him screaming about it by now.

Yes, I know the OEM is 225/40. I was trying to say even 235/40 will work fine.

Awesome...I sent him a PM just to make sure I hear it from the horse's mouth that they work without spacers...thanks for your help!

Great choice!!! Welcome to the O.Z. club. Had mine on my car since last spring and love em'. I'm on 225 street tires and could only imagine how well the car responds on the wider racing tires. Pics look great!

I went to discount tire who guaranteed fitment and when the rim's showed (the next day - LOL) we test fit the rim with no tire on the front and it works fine.

no rubbing up to 245 on the fronts, rub with 245 on the rears, anything smaller and you'll be fine. Frankly, I think with a street tire that's rounded on the corner you'll be fine with 245's - my application is under heavy load. I drive through turns at 60-100mph, find me a place you'll do that regularly with street tires and you'll have the rubbing with 245 on the rears - LOL
