Please some help Factory Rim OFFSET

does anyone know the factory offset of the base cobalts? I've been trying to call all different wheel companies and the thing that i found out is that a wheel with the offset between 40 thourgh 45 wouldn't rub on a cobalt. Is this true? What I really want to know is the factory offset so i can buy a wheel with that specific offset. I've heard that +42 is the factory offset for the base cobalt but would anyone else know?

Yes taht is right it is +42 and they look real good with sportlines and 17's.
Go to wheel max they have the best deals. I got my wheels with toyo proxes Z-4 215 30 r17 for 815.00 shipped.

215/30/17? Are you sure that is the right tire size because that would be the skinniest rubberband tire I've ever seen.

I really don't think u need to worry about rubbing on this car. There is plenty of space in the wheel well...I'm running 225/45/17 on my Ion on Sprint springs and there is no rubbing at all. A 215/40/18 wheel or even 225/40/18 (which is what I would go with) should be fine.

What is the tire size on your current wheels? U should get something that is close to your overall wheel/tire diameter but not under.

i believe my orginial tire is 195/60-15 on my cobalt. why would you recommend the 225 over the 215?

My reasons for going with 225's vs 215's were:

a) They are cheaper
b) They are wider
c) They are taller (and I was looking to keep some kind of ride comfort)

Downside is the speedo if off by 3mph at 60mph... I can get the dealer to fix that though...

yea but i don't know about lowering my car with sportlines if i have 225/40/18 tires. I haven't seen anyone that did that yet, so i'm kinda concered it would rub as if the 215/40/18 i know won't rub at all.

I really seriously doubt you will rub with 225/40/18 tires, there is plenty of room in the wheel wells.
