You won't loose speed or torque. You will just loose time in the 1/4 mile, & everyother race. It will also make it harder to make a sharp turn.

But all in all, I hope you find some nice 20" chrome rims. Post some pics up when your done!

I have 20's on my 2.2 HHR and I still out accelerate the local 2.2 Cobalt guys. The weight might slow you down from a launch but once you're moving you will never tell a difference other than stickier tires. The hardest part of having heavy 20's is getting the rotating mass rolling, from then on its MUCH easier. The 20's I have dont weigh much more than the stock 18's on your car anyway. I say go fer broke!

And as far as the above post? I have no problems with sharp turns or ANY turns for that matter. Just make sure the offset is right for you Cobalt and you'd never know a difference. Maybe some more road noise. But other than that... my HHR is dropped 2.5" and rides smoother than my friend's dropped SS on 18's

Yep.. that Yellow SS is Doc.. there is also another yellow SS on 20's .. he's up for car of the month you can look at his rid there. IM also looking at 20's but im in an LS..Ive found a set ordered my tires just getting the funds for the wheels. Just make sure you're prepared to feel more of the road... its not a HUGE difference from the 40 to 35 series but u do feel more of lil bumps.. IM goin wit a +4 so i will notice a bigger diff... Did +5 on my Chevy Blazer (stock 235/70/15 to 255/35/20) not too much of a ride quality difference.. but when you turn the wheel the response is much quicker... Good luck in your search... If i can provide any help let me know

You have got to be kidding...wheels that big are going to make the car ride, accelerate, brake, handle, etc. much worse than say some lightweight 16's. It's not debatable, it's a known and recognized fact. You are going to have to use more energy to accelerate all that mass up to speed and then keep the speed up. Not only are they heavier but they're probably using wider tires so those will cause more friction with the ground and more wind resistance. I highly doubt you could beat any Cobalts with your 2.2 motor and heavy 20 inch wheels.
