Ran over a brick need help.

Well yesterday on my way home from work I found myself traped inbetween 2 semi trucks and a brick/ piece of concrete in the middle of the road. I could not swerve so I had no choice but hit it well now my 08 ss/tc has a ripped tire and the inside lip of my front rim has a small bend in it. I went to the dealer to see if by some chance they would cover it since the car only has 1700 miles on it I already knew the answer before I asked but I figured I would ask anyway. So then I went to the parts department and they want $540 for the wheel and $261 for the tire. So thats $800 for one tire and one rim. Then I went to tire max to see if they could help me, they wanted $540 for a refinished wheel and $210 for the tire. They did say I could probably use the wheel because its not that bad but I am not going to trust my life at 150mph with a dent in the lip of my rim. I will probably end up buying some aftermarket wheels and 1 tire. I have 2 questions 1 is is there a market for 08 ss wheels 3 good 1 possibly good? and 2 what aftermarket wheels would be at least as light, forged, and nice looking for an 08 imperial blue ss/tc? I like nice not rice but while at tire max I seen some gloss black wheels with a machined lip and the guy quoted me $825 for 4 wheels and 1 tire. Either way I will be spending about 800-900 on the car so what are some options? I guess so much for my hahn ppc tuner that I intended to buy with my next bonus next month. I hope its as good as I have been getting then I can get both.

There are very few wheels that light available, if your only spending $900 your wheels will be heavier then the stock ones.

Yeah it was on the freeway in houston at 6pm so that was not an option unless I wanted to get ran over. Of course I could claim it on the unsurance but my deductable is 500 and that would make my rates go up.

Does anyone know how much an 08 ss 18/7.5 forged wheel weighs?

They weigh approximately 20.5 lbs each, with a 5 x 110 bolt pattern.

When I bought my 08 TC

The dealership tried to run buy a whole shitload of different insurances... the one thing I did end up getting was the Tire and Rim insurance... it was $350 for 5 years 100K miles I think.... I can run over anything I want now (not that I would)...

Sorry to hear man... I know too many stories about this type of thing happening to ppl. Thats why I got the coverage in the first place... Good luck the prices you mentioned for the tire and rim sounds just about right...

They never even offered any kind of insurance like that, wish they would have. They are really light the lightest thing I am finding is 24lbs. anyway I think I will take a loan on my 401k and get something really nice so let me know whats light and looks good.

sorry 18.5 or 18.8 lbs per wheel depending on the colour, those were the only 18" wheel I found that wasn't heavier then the SS/TC stock wheel in the right bolt pattern.

They are expensive though, I think around $300 per wheel....

Other then that, I haven't found a wheel close to that weight that is available in the right size.

I found lots of misinformation about people claiming a wheel was light, but when I did some actual research into them, they weren't.

If you find any wheels that someone tells you are light, don't take their word for it, research it yourself before you commit to anything.

Yeah I am not looking to spend over 2k on a set of wheels and possibly 2500 with wheels and tires I looked at centerline but I am not fond of any of the wheels I found. I need to see if someone will buy 3.5 oem wheels off me first I guess lol.

why pay the deductible?

wheel, $450 from CED

Tire - checkout the cheap online retailers like tirerack, and discounttiredirect

won't be that much over $600 I would expect.

For that little over the deductible I would just pay to fix it, and not worry about insurance.

I just called the insurance and the lady said it would be covered under collision which will make my insurance rate go up, I am 24 and have a spotless driving record and I will keep it that way. I will pay at least the extra 300 a get it fixed my self it will save me in the long run. I am still looking for a new set of wheels to treat myself to a leat birthday present. I can spend a little more and have better looking wheels as compared to stock. I like the stock wheels but if I can find a good light aftermarket one I like I will go that route.

Stop being a retard and going 150 MPH in a cobalt? Prolly a good thing then your rim got bent.

Did you tell your insurance company what happened?

Guess what, even if you don't claim it they probably typed it into their computer and already have recorded an accident against you....

Never call your insurance company unless you are actually claiming something because they literally record everything you tell them in the computer whether a claim is filed or not.

Dude juk the wheel. You can get sick looking after market wheels for the price of 1 wheel.

Look man I have never been 150 but one day i will find a place where I can pay and go 150 with just me on the road, It was just a figure of speach anyway. The fact is the wheel is jeopardized now, there may not be and visable cracks and it may balance fine but who is to say there are not stress cracks that could grow from heat and cornering wheel hop stupid chit like that. I will not trust my life to something that i can avoid. You can if you want but my life is way more valuable than 800 bucks which I will be glad to pay. As far as me asking the insurance I just asked if they covered roadhazard I did not tell them I hit anything, they said their road hazzard is covered under collison which if I were to make a claim it would make my rates go up. I am om my parents insurance and they usually pay it so if I want to keep that liberty then I will not claim the tire and rim to save 300. I found several aftermarket rims ilike and I will probably go that route, I dont mind a few extra pounds and i'm taking maybe 16 max.
