Recalibration?
Recalibration?
Hey guys I just put 225/40/18 tires on my ss/sc was wondering if theres anyway to get a recalibration for this tire size. My speedometer now read 2mph faster than it should and if im correct I think it will affect the amount of miles I put on my car.
anyone?
anyone?

dam I remember someone talking about how you can recalibrate it by a different way. The dealer actually installed my tires mounted and balanced them so I dont know why they wouldnt have fixed my speedometer
The dealership is like the worst restaurant you can imagine. You order a salad, and then you look down and realize you need a fork to eat it with, and they point to the "Utensil" section of the menu where forks are $2.
lol thats a good one so basically I go to the dealer and ask them to recalibrate my speedometer to the different size of my tires and they will do it and hopefully not say they did it
I worked in aftermarket for a while at GM, and when we swapped wheels we HAD to put the wheel sensors in on TPMS cars, and calibrate the speedo.
And BTW, it normally isn't free but it SHOULD have been included in the price of the wheels and tires etc.
k thanks well see I went in to have my wheels warrantied and I bought a different tire size and the service man asked me if I knew it was a different tire size and I said yea so I figured they would recalibrate it anyway. I didn't buy the tires from the dealer either but they mounted them and balanced them on my new wheels for free. So idk if they are supposed to recalibrate it or if they just figured I didn't want to pay for it.
do you know how much it would cost if they charge me? Oh and at 60mph it says It will read 61.2 so this means my odometer will go up faster right?

well thats what the cops radar said and he said he just had it calibrated.. i know its 5 miles off compared to my dads truck and he dosent have stock tires so its off a lil more then that.
Specification/Sidewall/Radius/Diameter/Circumference/ Revs/Mile /Difference
215/45-18 / 3.8in / 12.8in / 25.6in / 80.5in / 787 / 0.0%
225/40-18 / 3.5in / 12.5in / 25.1in / 78.8in / 804 / -2.1%
215/45-18 / 3.8in / 12.8in / 25.6in / 80.5in / 787 / 0.0%
225/40-18 / 3.5in / 12.5in / 25.1in / 78.8in / 804 / -2.1%
Yea I know doc thanks man. I went and used the tire size calculator basically my speedometer is fast and when it says 60mph im really going 58.8mph. I have to contact the dealer and see what they can do
All that really matters to me is my mpg and my odometer the speed difference I can make due with but I dont want to put extra miles on my car for no reason.
