Rims and tires

For the summer I'm getting 18x8 rims with 245/35 tires (Yokohama Advan Sport or Toyo Proxes T1R). Are the tires too wide for an 8 inch rim? Should I go with 235/40?

Thank you
Christian

245 is fine on an 8" wheel. I'd go 245/40 myself though.

The 245/35 have the same diameter of the stock tires, 245/40 would have a bigger diameter

I;m really looking at the 255/35, on the 18x8 rims. The sidewall and the circumference are reallly the same as the stock 225/40. I'm trying to figure out if they won't rub. If they don't, theyt wil be my choice

I like a taller tire so the car doesn't ride like a brick. Roads are covered with potholes by me. My Redline came with 215/45/17's and i use a 1" taller tire. Feels so much better. Less wheel spin and better gas mileage too. It's a win win to me. Also a 255 is meant for a 8.5" wheel or bigger.
