Teaser.... Saturn Sky wheels

Well, I got one of the wheels today. The other three won't be here till monday...

BUT it doesn't look like they are going to fit without spacers. The inside part of the rim is right up next to the shock tower...so it looks like I'm going to have to order some spacers, which I wasn't hoping to do... grrr.

you should have the tires mounted so you can tell what clearance your going to need exactly.

Actually I'm beginning to wonder if I could just grind down those points that stick out right there. But ya, I need the tire on for a perfect check. I just pulled the wheel out of the box and wanted to get an initial assessment of what i would be looking at

Jack, they look pretty good from when I look straight down, maybe in just a little bit. So spacers might fix the problem with the shock tower and make them sit flush outside.

They are 18x8" w/ 55mm offset

i told ya!! just playin.

did you toss it on the back too? when you put rubber on it you'll notice it rubbing on the inner plastic on the back.

can't wait to see what they'll look like with spacers. by then you might as well get some 245's for that wide look.

It is a little high, but when I was underneath the car looking around I didn't really see anywhere where there would be clearance issues on the inside ( i obviously missed the shock tower, lol ).

If i go with spacers I will probably go with 7mm so that would help bring the wheel out a little.

Well this isn't absolute that they won't fit like you said. but ya, I was just about to go down and throw em on the back and see what it looks like there. I think I am going to be ok with some 7mm spacers. should line up everywhere perfect.

There's a reason that bracket is shaped that way...i wouldn't grind that down....

I really like those.I think the stock offset is 45mm
I hate when 10mm gives you a headache.Hope you get them to fit well because they look great.

Go with the spacers just don't forget your gonna NEED longer studs to make up the difference.

Yeah Im trying to decide what I want to do right now. I went down to the local tire shop and they said about $150 per axle to do the spacers with longer studs. So its going to cost me another $300...

I can't decide if I should do that or just sell the sky wheels and get something else.

I'm leaning toward the spacers though, since no one else has these wheels and I like being unique.

The pics are hard to tell by the angle their at . Is it the shock thats gonna be a issue or the bracket ? You can grind away a portion of that bracket for clearence . That sux though the Sky wheels have a 55 mm offset . It puts them sitting at the exact same position as the stock SS/SC 18's on the outer lip , but your losing a full 1" of clearence on the inside .

A 1/2" spacer would sit the wheels perfect on the car and make them flush with the outer lip . I dunno though , thats too much for a spacer imo ....at that thickness u should be using bolt on wheel adapters . You may be fine just clearencing that bracket and running a 235/40-18 tire . On that 8" rim the sidewall would be nice and flat and wouldnt bow out at all . All youd really have to worry about is if there was a little room for tire deflection in cornering .

It was a bracket on the strut tower. I wouldn't want to be modifiying that.
