Tire Help!

I am going to need some tires here soon and I would like everyones opinion on what I should get. I have about 18,500 on the stock Pirelli's. I was looking at the Toyo T1R, I have owned Toyo in the past on my z-24 and really liked them. The other one I was looking at is the BFG KDW. I would like to keep my speedo accurate, this is where I do not know what size to go with. With the stock size our speedo, atleast mine, reads 2 mph fast. So if I go with a 225/40 it should read a little more faster but a 225/45 may just make it perfect. So if anyone could just help me decide what tire they feel is a good buy and what size I should go with that would be wonderful. Thanks a lot.

I just got the KDW's about 3 weeks ago and I love them. They grip like no other in either wet or dry conditions. I went with the 225/40's since I also lowered my car with the Eibach Sportline springs.

I am still undecided and am not sure what size I want. I would like a 225 just to get them a little bit wider. Not sure if I want 225/40s or 225/45s. Anyone else have the Toyo or BFG? I would like to know how long they last. I guess I don't get on mine hard too often since i have 18,500 on the stockers and they are not really that bad yet. They should last to 20k I would think, or at least close to it. Thanks a lot.

If your not planning on lowering your car, then go with the 225/45. I have the 225/40's with Eibach Sportline springs and they occasionally rub when making a real hard U-Turn, so I have to be a little more careful now.

I doubt I will. I had my z-24 lowered and it rode stiff and bumpy as hell. I love the way it handles and rides now. I don't think the wheel gap is too bad stock. I already go on 3 wheels entering and leaving my driveway, I have a huge ass bump at the bottom. My spoiler, black piece underneath, scraps like hell every time I leave. I like how the sidewall of the stockers look, anyone have a close up pic of some 225/45/18s? I know it will be a little bit fatter I would just like to get a good idea.

My personal preferance would be the Yokohama Advan Neova's Kinda spendy.
On the other end of the price scale would be the Dunlop Direzza's.

You might try going to TireRack.com find your tire, you will be able to check dimensions plus see large photos of the tires you like.I'm pretty **** about tread patterns so that's how I shop.Good luck with the search.

Yeah so am I. My dad is a tech at a Toyota dealership so he can sometimes get good deals, even through tirerack. I'm not sure if they get a discount on tires or maybe just free shipping or something. I do like the tread pattern of the Toyo T1R I just am not sure what size I want to go with. I do think I will get a 225 instead of the stock size. I would just like to know how much wider of a profile the 225/45 is to the 225/40

Last bump for the afternoon.

They're both great tires, but I'm more loyal to Toyo.

I like the Toyos also I have them on my wifes Mustang and my truck.I just want to try some thing a little different. Toyo .com has dimension specs for their stuff listed. If I remember right the 225/45 is two tenths of an inch taller than the 215/45
25.7 vs.25.9

Never used the Toyos, but i'm on my second set of KDWs and they are awesome. Go for a 235/40, it puts you within 1% of original size while adding a lot of meat to the contact patch. I almost get complete traction in 1st gear when the road is clean and level and the tires are warm. It's kinda funny that the car hooks up in these tires, compared to what I used to do to the pirellis.

It fits, I'm running that setup as we speak.

Yeah, but it feels like you lose about 10Hp. Second gear feels less fun when you cant spin the tires, but actually going forward instead of spinning is a good thing I guess. Not like there are many places where I can safely run out second gear legally.
