Tire pressure

Car is giving me the check tire pressure warning. All tires have around 27-30 psi. Should it be doing this?

If you have the factory 17" wheel / tire package, your tires should be at 35 psi....so I would say the tpms is doing what it is meant to. Top em up, you will get better handling and mileage

Look at the label in the driver's side door jam...tells you what PSI you should be running...

x2 and please don't get the service tpm and check tire pressure messages mixed up like so many people do when they come into the shop i work at. but yes top them up to 35 or even 36 or 37psi and it will go out.

i was just going to post something similar to this...about a month ago my tire pressure light came on and my right rear tire was down to 21-22psi while the others were in the mid 30's, so i filled all the tires to 37psi...ever since theyve all stayed around 35-36 and yesterday the light came on again and the same right rear tire was down to 20psi while the rest was in the 30's. what do you guys think about that?

Interesting. Got the car few months back and it only has 1100 miles on it and I remember it coming off the lot at about 32 or 33 psi. I will get them filled. Thanks guys.

sounds like either you had/have a nail in your tire causing a slow leak. and if thats not it then i would say its either your valve stem, valve core or the bead is leaking.

and alot of the time's the tech's won't fill them up all the way or their pressure gauge is off by a couple of psi, so when the gauge reads 35 its actually reading 32 or so. as well it also depends on how long the car sat and if it got cold over night.

The tire sounds like it's leaking a bit. Either that or maybe the sensor is messed up?

How does that tire compare to how the LR looks like?

the RR def is a little softer compared to the others so i dont think its the sensor...last time the light came on i checked the tire pretty good and didnt see any naills or anything. Also how would i be able to tell if the valve stem, valve core or the bead is leaking and what do i do to fix it?

Easy way to check for leaks is by using some soapy water. Next time you wash the car take some of the water from your bucket and put it around the valve stem -- if there is a leak you'll see bubbles.

dead on on the soap its what we use at the shop to check for leaks. well atleast i do and its never failed me.

and ya we only do that if someone is asking for it or special occasions. it also helps when you have a huge shelf full of wheel weights lol. we've done worse though. re-routed our bosses washer fluid line to spray him in the crotch when he uses it.

Funniest one I had done to me so far was a "friend" (co-worker) put long plastic tie straps around my driveshaft (Ford).....makes one-heck of a racket when you get up to speed. Sounds funny at low speed......I was like: WTF?

I got him back....long time after this I put really long tie straps on his truck's drive shaft....funny though...he didn't appreciate it

they never do. and ya you can do the same thing but with stick on weights, put them on the drive shaft. a funny one is my brother took like 10 roll's of painters tape and taped up one of our coworkers car. he didn't like that much either lol.

I can top that one. When I was a kid waiting at the bus stop to go to school one of the Dads came out to get in his car (VW Bug) to go to work. He started cussing and was looking in the drivers door. Some of us kids went over to look and found somebody had packed the ENTIRE inside of his Bug with wadded newspaper. It was so well packed that even the insides of the doors left imprints in the newspaper when you opened them It took us 15-20 minutes to remove the packed newspaper so he could get in to go to work. Very good job by his subordinates (military guys).
