tire size blues
okay i thought this might be in the wrong thread but it's more 2.2 related then a general inquiry.
i just brought a set of MB Seven X 15" wheels and i'm looking for rubber. i'm sitting on the stock 16" for the sports pack. i hear that if i went with a smaller diameter wheel then stock i will run into problems; mainly braking. my stockers are 205/55-16 and i'm thinking 205/45-15 in rubber.

if you drop the aspect ratio it will look like you put 13s or something on there.... to get the same over all diameter you need to up the aspect ratio when you go down a rim size. If you 205/55-16 stock, i would go 205/60-15, or wider at 225/50-15
if you want winter rubber, go with a taller tire.... I think the newer cavys that had 15s went with 195/65r15, good size for winter.... low profile tires are crapy in the snow/ice plus you will lose lots of ground clearance going to a smaller diameter tire like that....

Oh shut up you act like MN winters are bad...come to Texas...its nothing but feet upon feet of snow each ******* winter...

but 15 in rims with 45 series tires are for one going to look a little rediculous i imagine...and also they are NOT going to be good winter tires like stated above.
At least go with 55 series tires or something larger...Cause such a small wheel with such a small tire is going to do nothing but make your wheel gap look horrible, dropped or not

i went with the smaller wheel because yes i do race and i'm all about go not show so they don't have to be the sex. i'm not all about the bling and larger rims tend to look off to me. not saying the 15" is any better. i guess all the boyz in da hood turned me off with their massive wheels on anything they can their hands on. anyway i'd prefer the lighter wheel. i cant dump much weight anywhere else as this is my dd and i pack the 3 kiddies in there too. for the record i'm black not mexican and i do appreciate the comments. my stock 16" i'm using for winter the new wheels will be my summer tire. thanks all.
heres a tire size calculator.... enter you factory size and try to find a 15" tire similar in diameter http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearmetric.htm
If you are all about go, I would try going with a 16 or 17" rim and a proper sized tire, thoses tires you suggested first will have about a 4-6+" gap in between your wheel wells and tires.... I dont think they will help at all for performance....they will just make your car look kinda silly(no offence)
kyyankee --- I would say 225/45, maybe a 235/45 or 235/40 but I would only go that size with a +7.5" wide rim...

tryin not to follow in the steps of kyyankee but i have 17x7.5 and i want to get a bigger tire and i have a 2.0/2.5 tenzo drop and i dont want any rubbing problems. sorry for the jack...
i have 215/40s on now and the fender gap is a little bigger than what i would like...

you have it backwards bro.
low profile is "bling"
more sidewall will help with launch traction.
