20mm is a pretty substantial leap in tire width. If you can, find the diameter of your wheels from GM specs (I don't know what they are off the top of my head) and then check the tire manufacturer's site for recommended wheel sizes for the 225s. They will typically list a minimum/maximum wheel width as well as a recommended. Also, going to that size even with the lower profile sidewall your total diameter is going to be slightly different and will throw your speedometer off by a very small amount. I don't want to say no outright because the tires you're looking at may very well fit...but depending on your wheel width and the recommended width set by the manufacturer, you might be pushing your luck.

Well I just found something that says my wheels are 17x7. Ive heard that a 225 can fit on a 7 inch wide wheel. I did some calculations. I know that the car will be lowered 1.3mm. My spedo will be off by .3 mph at 60mph. Its not so bad.

My biggest concern, even with your stock ride height, would be wheel rub when the wheel as turned full right or full left. You're essentially adding an extra 1/2" to either side of the wheel (~25mm/inch) which might not sound like a lot but it depends on your offset, etc. One more thing too is that when you go to a much wider tire on a smaller wheel you run the risk that the tire will "arch" (forget the real term) leaving your mid-tread in contact with the road all the time and the outer edges almost rounding out and 'arching' instead of the tread being flat on the road.

Man NO ONE else has an opinion on this besides me

Rubbing will not be an issue. I guarantee it. The stock 205/50/17's are stretched quite a bit on the stock 7" wide wheels. Probably 75% of SS owners are running 225/40/18's, which are pretty much the same diameter as 225/45/17's.

I might as well as my question in here rather then create another post. I'm wondering what the widest tire is that could be fit on the standard 15"x6"wide rim? Without rubbing. With Pro-lines installed. My guess would be 215's due to the rim width limitation. Any input? Thanks.
