The best size for a 16" wheel if you want your speedo to be accurate is 205/55/16

i calculated it to be less than 3/4" shorter than the stock 18s. as soon as my rims show up, ill have my tires mounted up and take comparison pics. i have a set of snowies that size. i wouldnt buy tires that are that different, but i got these for free and they are almost new, how can i refuse

205/55/16 is what comes stock on the SE models........which is also the same overall diameter as 205/50/17 (non-supercharged SS, and G5 GT). The Supercharged SS seem to be the odd one out......which is probably due to the different transmission as well?

Wouldn't narrower be better for winter tires? I could imagine bad skidding on ice or snow with wider tires.
