Wobble Bolts

The VW guys have been using these for a while so they can fit 5x114.3 wheels on their 5x112 cars, in theory these should also make it so that we can run 5x112 wheels on our 5x110 bolt pattern. Thoughts? I know safety is a concern, but ingore that for now. Just curious what everyone thinks.

interesting concept... I would see them maybe needing more maintenance to keep them torqued correctly, but I dont see why it wouldnt work. The physics is there. just keep in mind that the force holding the wheel to the hub is now offset. So there will be more strain on the side movement and less hold since there is now extra forces in action.

Like I said, more upkeep to keep them torqued properly (over torquqing would snap these like a twig) and by a few extras just in case

One very big problem you are going to have here.

VW's use bolts.

GM's use lugs.

There are no wobble lugs.

A wobble lug nut, huh? I saw that on the site. Package of 20. I suppose if the hole in the wheel is big enough to allow for the 2mm difference in size, then that might work.

Yes, but I would suggest a sever upgrade on the studs. that side force is gonna snap something

In theory, they work, as long as you have the correct hubcentric ring to center the wheel on the hub.

I've never ran them, just researched them.

You need the right hubcentric rings for the wheel you have to the car you have and you're good. You also need clearance in the lug seats for the wobble part and the lug holes for the offset of the bolt when tightened. These have been around since the early 70's. I believe Renault developed them to go from 4x98 to 4x100 or vice versa. I'm going to use the wobble bolts to put the wheels on that I want since they don't come in 5x112.

I almost want to put the newer 18" OEM 350Z 5-spoke wheels on my GTI. Even the OEM gunmetal SS/SC wheels would look good on it I think. I have my eye on another aftermarket set too. Who knows when I'll have the $$ though.
