Here you can see the rib on the idler pulley bracket that I referenced earlier. I can either try to find an old style pulley or just machine this rib down.

I popped my dust cap off my existing tensioner pulley and took a picture so you could see the slot I am talking about. I measured the slot on the pulley and they do line up with the rib on the idler pulley bracket.

Going back on with an LSJ head gasket this time. Has relief cuts around the pistons and just looks to be an all around much better gasket.

So I used a Fel-Pro gasket and it blew it's seal on cylinder 1. The oil you see in this picture is from me doing a compression test prior. Which btw if you use too much oil to test the rings it can give you a false positive with a blown head gasket as well.

After port job. I think I may go in with a Dremel with a sanding attachment and clean up the mill marks a bit. Either way it should be able to breath a LOT better and let the engine run a little healthier.

Before I had the exhaust ports machined out they are highly restrictive on the L61.
