Considering buying a SS/SC Cobalt in the future...
Hello,
Because the SS/TC Cobalt is coming out soon I am hoping to find a good deal on a supercharged SS sometime in the next year. Currently I have a 3.8 5 speed Camaro that is pretty much stock, I took it to the track once and ran a 15.6.
Did the 2005 model year have many problems? Didn't the 05s have a different 1st gear
Should I look for a 2006 and up?
What options were avaiable on the SS? I think the only option I am concerned about is G85(posi)
Do many of you use HP Tuners?
I want to get this car to run consistant low 14s. I know GM sold an injector, pulley, and tune that boost output to 240 correct?
What are the comment issues with theses cars? How difficult is it to change the clutch?
Looking forward to getting to know some of you better in the future
Brian

1. Nice Car, looks like a great deal but I don't want to drop the cash for a couple more months.
2. I don't want an EVO, I like to buy american and I have connections to GM. I just want a fun car that still gets 25 mpg that would be ideal.
3. Lets get this thread back on topic
not a pile of options on the ss/sc. basicly sunroof, g85 (lsd and recaro seats), onstar, heated seats (non g85 only). the 05-07 were exactly the same, but 07 didnt have the recaro seats with the g85 package. the tranny is the same for all 3 years os the ss/sc.
gm does have the stage 2 kit avalible, its injectors, pulley, short belt and a reflash, bumping it from 205 to 241hp. that alone should put you in the low 14s. a few more bolt ons and 13s isnt that hard. however if you are going to drag race it, consider urethane motor mounts a must (stops the dreaded wheelhop these cars are known for), drive shaft shop axles are highly recomended, and your stock clutch isnt going to like launching for very long, so keep some money put away for a clutch. it takes a couple grand to make these cars handle the punishment of racing.

That looks like a great buy to me. That is exactly what I am looking for just 6 months too soon.
Good Luck with selling it, I wish I could help you out.
