Progress springs installed and shimmed 3/4" in the rear
I installed the Progress springs yesterday that I bought from Shane (Xtreme4utnv) and/or Jen (Kitten81). Thanks for deciding not to lower your car Jen! If you change your mind again, these springs are awesome! The ride is super smooth and they really tighten up the cars handling on twisty roads. I found the best twisty road I could find and ripped up and down the same stretch of road 3 times just to get a feel for how my car performs around curves now. Body roll is almost undetectable and the car felt like it was glued to the road. Even though the spring rates are stiffer than stock, the suspension soaks up most bumps and pot holes without flinching. In the front I cut the bump stops in half like the instructions called for, but in the rear I only cut about 13mm off the bump stop. That is what Eibach recommends when installing Sportlines, so I didn't think it would be necessary to cut the rears in half considering the Progress lower 1/2" less than Sportlines. So far I haven't bottomed out, so that's a good sign. After completing the installation on saturday I was a bit disappointed to find that the back was sitting a full inch lower in the rear. The front was 26.5" to the bottom of the fender and the rear was 25.5". I knew the fronts would settle a bit, but I didn't think it would be any more than 1/4". I was surprised when I checked the front again today and found that it was sitting at 26". The rears were sitting at about 25-3/8". The approx. extra 150lbs of stereo gear in the trunk probably made it sit a bit lower in the rear than a stock Balt would, but I came up with a solution. I decided to add a 3/4" spacer between the bottom of the rear springs and the lower mounting platforms. I made them out of a PVC sheet product called AZEK. I work with it on some of the custom garage doors that I build. Here are some pics of the process:

THE MAKING OF THE SPACERS:

I GLUED THE CENTER PIECES THAT I CUT OUT OF THE SPACERS USING A HOLE SAW INTO THE BASE OF THE SPRING HOLDER SO THE BUMP STOP WOULD STILL HAVE SOMETHING SOLID TO BOTTOM OUT ON:

THE FINISHED SPACERS IN PLACE:

THE FINISHED PRODUCT WITH THE FRONT SITTING AT 26" AND THE REAR SITTING AT 26-1/8" TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FENDERS:

The fronts and rears will probably both settle a bit more giving it a lower stance overall. It was a lot of work, but now I'm happy with the ride quality AND the appearance of my Balt!
EPIC POST! lol
