exactly what the title says. i painted both the upper and lower grills ultra silver on my 06 ss/sc. i think it looks pretty sweet. what do you guys think?

Not feeling it, the front end needs some contrast, kinda looks like an ls now

IDK man...too much silver...i cut out all the bars in my old grill and put gunmetal mesh on the back side...gave it a nice deep effect and it matched the wheels...

IMO its just too much silver right there...something needs to break it up a little

it is a lot of silver...yes. i know what you all mean by the lack of contrast...but that's what i wanted. i wanted the front to be completely one color. i think it looks neat because i have never seen an ss/sc with a fully matched front end. the uniformity and lack of contrast was the look i was going for. tomorrow i will take some farther away pics. the only reason why these were all close ups is because the sun was going down and a farther back pic wouldn't have turned out as bright and clear. also, i bought the lower grill at my chevy dealer. it's the same lower grill as the ss/na. just pops right in.

i used duplicolor ultra silver truck/suv paint (comes in a bigger can). removed the grills, cleaned, prepped with plastic paint adhesion promoter, put 3 or 4 coats of silver, and had it back on the car within 45 minutes of taking it off. the duplicolor paint dries fast as hell.

thanks. i was just getting bored with the stock colors in front. it makes it *plain* and unique at the same time. i've only had it a few days, but i've gotten a lot of compliments on it already. tomorrow i'll get some farther back pics.

thanks again. i would do a how to, but i would like to do a picture how-to. since my grills are already painted, i wouldn't be able to do step by step pictures. then again, the how to would just look something like this:

1. buy duplicolor paint and plastic paint adhesion promotor
2. remove grills
3. clean grills with simple green or similar cleaner
4. let dry
5. spray down with adhesion promotor
6. let dry 10-15 minutes
7. apply light sweeping sprays of paint over whole surface
8. let dry 10 minutes
9. repeat steps 7 and 8 until color is solid and grill is completely covered by 3 or 4 layers of paint
10. let dry 10-15 minutes
11. place back on car

wow...i can't believe i actually got 11 steps out of that. it was a lot shorter and more ridiculous looking in my head. either way, it really is that simple.

That is very sharp! And you have the rear grills silvered out too eh? Very nice bud, very nice! Your upper rad shroud looks better then mine though...

where you get the lower grille

 

it's just the SS/NA grill. i got it from my chevy dealer for like $75. i've also seen them on gm parts sites.

 

I could take it or leave it..... Quality job tho
