SS/SC Manual trans oil ?
SS/SC Manual trans oil ?
The GM manaul says a manual trans lube but doesn't give any specs on it. Does anyone know the weight of oil or even the specific type? I am changing all fluids over to Royal Purple buy not sure about what to use. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
just to be ornery i generally use in racing for most cars that need it,l a GL6 spec 75w90 gear oil i get in bulk from mobilexxon its an obsolete military spec fluid with lots of extreme pressure additive, but for the M35 OEM Silkolene is what i use..
Like hardly ever; i now have 30 k miles and done one trans oil change when i added a hi helix quaife lsd ....the next change will prolly be when i change the trans again to put in a 4.45 diff ratio, but not right away...unless the gear box breaks which it has not shown any signs of doing...
I already have royal purple in the engine and I wanted all synthetic throughout the car.
Did the quaife lsd get rid of the darting like the stock lsd has?

stock and mine same brand: quaife. No the hi helix it does not.If anything it makes it worse, If you have lowered the car, it helps to raise the rack to reduce bump steer- thats the action of the wheels toe-ing in and out as the wheels go up and down as a result of lowering the car below of its OEM ride height. Torque steer is what you are describing, and fwd cars tend to do that...e z on the gas pedal takes care of it , other than what I described to make sure the tie rods are parallel at ride height etc....good luck..
Also i switched out my 650s for 750s shocks (dont get 850s that was a bad experiment) so now my wife can lift and close them and she is like 5'3 95 lbs.
After the b.s. i put myself through to make them right, they are worth it. Just make sure you have them done professionally or have a grinder when you do them yourself. I actually like them better than stock now.
