Replacing tranny pan

I have to replace my tranny pan, over a month ago I was coming back from vacation and there was a rock on the middle of the gravel road I couldn't avoid. It hit my tranny pan and bent it and it was leaking, not a lot, but still leaking. I managed to bend the pan back up and it hasnt leaked in over a month now, but to be safe and for peace of mind I still want to get it replaced.

Is this something I can do myself? Fairly simple? Should I take it to a garage? Will they charge me an arm and a leg to do it?

There is only a fill and drain hole for the tranny on the 07 Cobalt SS right? No way I can check the tranny fluid level?

I'd have the dealer do that just to be safe. There's no way to check the transmission fluid on your own.

I had a similar problem the transmission pan.... here are my damage totals for your reference. It bent back the front most part of the pan and it bled out all of the transmission fluid.

QTY NUMBER DESCRIPTION UNIT PRICE
01 8685184 PAN ASM-A 4.195 74.42 74.42
01 24203590 GASKET 4.196 46.54 46.54
01 24221762 FLTR KIT 4.197 44.33 44.33
12 88861003 FLUID 8.800 8.84 106.08

LABOR --- $135.
GRAND TOTAL --- $406.37

By the way, you read right, 12 quarts of transmission fluid.
