Cobalt LS Curb Weight

Hey guys. I'm considering purchasing a new Cobalt LS sedan. I just need it as a daily driver, as I already have a fast car, 88 300zx Turbo. I just want to know how much this car actually weighs. Edmunds.com list the coupe as being 2991lbs for the coupe and 3216lbs for the sedan. 3216lbs for a small car is insane, this car will be replacing my 05 Altima which is a much bigger car that weighs about 3200lbs. I then looked on Wikipedia and it lists the weights as 2681 for the coupe and 2747 for the sedan. These numbers sound much more reasonable. The Edmunds numbers just seem impossible. How could just adding two doors add over 200lbs? Also if the sedan did weigh 200lbs more, how could it achieve the same EPA Fuel economy?

Could somebody please clarify this for me? If the car weighs 2747lbs then I've already settled on buying it. If it weighs 3216lbs then this is not the car for me.

It could weigh as much as 3,000,000,000 pounds! Some curbs are very long and that would make them VERY heavy!

Seriously tho ^ is right. If its gonna be a daily beater what does it matter?

Look at the sticker inside the door. The "curb weight" should be listed there like it is on every other car thats made.

Thats GVW or Gross Vehicle Weight, that is the weight of the car fully loaded. The curb weight is less cause its the weight of the car when its empty of any load.

I'm going to be stuck in it everyday. It might as well be a little bit fun to drive. Also lower weight vehicles are easier to maneuver and get better gas mileage. I'm just looking for a cheap, fun to drive, and five speed car. I really like the Civic but the Cobalt is so much cheaper, I wanted to give it a look.

I found the answer to my question though. Chevy lists the weight on there website as being 2681 for the coupe and 2747 for the sedan.

I think a few places have the GVW listed as the curb weight.

There is also a sticker on the door jam that says the total load (people and stuff) that the car can handle. GVW - Load capacity = curb weight. (approx 3700 - 900 = 2800 lbs). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to firure it out.
