Bad clutch?
Bad clutch?
I purchased my ss/sc used so i dont know what the clutch feels like in the first place so this may all be in my head. I own a 2.2 and an ss/sc, the clutch on the 2.2 feels like it catches way sooner than the 2.0. On the 2.0 the clutch dosent slip but it dosent catch till its almost all of the way out. Is the clutch going out? The only thing that i can think of is this. I assume that the 2.2 has a cable clutch thus giving it more room to catch where as the 2.0 has a hydraulic clutch and that is the reason that it dosent catch until later. Any thoughs?
Come on someone has to be able to help me!

my 2.0l catches about mid travel, thats were it should. as the clutch wears out the pedal will get higher as the fingers on the pressure plate are farther out because the disc is thinner.
all cobalts have hydralic clutches, as do almost all gm vehicles since the late 80s (chevy sprint and tracker excluded). between the 2.2/2.4 and 2.0l, the hydralic system is different, as well as the clutch is designed a lot different.

Not always true
The clutch on my new SS\TC got smoked twice when the wheels would not spin in the water box. Take-up on the new TC is supposed to be high up near the top of the pedal travel so you just tap the pedal for a quick no-lift shift. Now my pdeal travel release is near the floor and I can not do no-lift shifts anymore from 1 to 2 gears.
