Install Question... SC clutch vs. 2.4 clutch
Install Question... SC clutch vs. 2.4 clutch
Okay, well I'm about to get in to a clutch install this weekend on the 2.4 as it's stock clutch is now slipping beyond stupid.
Anyhow, I'm looking at the GMPP install guide (http://www.gmperformancedivision.com...SJ_Chap5&6.pdf) for lack of a complete clutch 'how to' for the 2.4, and was just curious from those of you who have done this -
1) How different is the 2.4 install from this SC guide?
2) Is there a COMPLETE 2.2/2.4 clutch (or Cavalier F23 for that matter I suppose) guide somewhere that I haven't found? I know there's HALF of one on the 'how to' section, but..
3) Anything 2.4 specific I should look out for, i.e., a 'Damn I wish somebody had told me that' common mistake?
4) Anything else you want to add...
Edit - Oh, hey, by the way. If anybody is interested in helping for beer and/or food in the Eastern NC region, let me know. I've got a couple of Marines I work who are going to help, but neither are Cobalt people...

I don't believe there is that much difference between the two. If anything, you probably have better access to the upper bell housing bolts. When I changed the clutch on my son's SS/SC I did not remove the hydraulic line at the location stated in the build book. I took the line off at the master cylinder and immediately placed a rubber nipple over the fitting. It is easier to access on the SS/SC than the location at the trans.
