Humming/Buzzing Noise from Front passenger
Humming/Buzzing Noise from Front passenger
Not sure if its the wheel or what, but when I get to about 40MPH I hear a Humming/Buzzing noise, the only thing i can associate it with is cardboard hitting bicycle spokes, the noise gets louder the faster I go, doesnt stop when I hit the brakes, or make a right or left turn, I did notice that after about 30 min of driving the Front passenger wheel gets really hot compared to the driver wheel. also about 30 min into driving my brake lights come on, my cruise control shuts off and the car starts vibrating really bad, and get ALOT worse when I hit the breaks, if I pull over and stop the car then go again i get no more vibrations for an hour or two. but I can still hear the humming/buzzing sound.
Sounds like the bearings are going in the right front hub. Will make noise / heat up. Get it fixed before it fails completely....leave it too long and you will be looking at a lot more than new bearings
Fyi
Let it be known that when you steer the car to the right the noise stopped, i was told this meant it was the passenger side bearing, I had to car worked on today, I told the mechanic that the noise was coming from the driver side, he also insisted that it was the passenger, I had him check the bearing on the driver first, sure enough, it was shot, he replaced, noise is now gone. so bottom line is you cant tell by steering the car which bearing is out.
i just had a montana in the shop doing the exact same thing. the old swerving trick told me it was the drivers side, however i put it on the hoist and drove it and the noise was comming from the passenger side. with the new design hub/bearings you cant always tell by swerving, i was just luckey enough that this one would make noise on the hoist, wheel bearings usualy dont.
