No, 02's are in the exhaust system...what you see there mounts your MAP2 sensor and a signal hose for the BOV.

However...Our 'no-cut' standard clamps are proven effective in these applications, and considerably different from the garden-variety cheap worm-drive hose clamps you may be used to. Why would you want larger than stock? Increasing the diameter of the charge piping without a need to (an effin big turbo), will only result in a slower response time.

It simply reduces spool time and response by putting less 'give' in the system. Think of conventional brake lines vs SS braided lines. Less expansion in the line, therefore quicker response.

To keep the trend going with my car (only true mod is Hahn 3" Cat Back, and he won me over with that product.. I LOVE IT!) I would be willing to go for $400 or under for a set matching Victory Red and t-bolt clamps. Or would take a good look at a combo pack with the intercooler if you did one.

Pipe diameter and shape shouldn't affect the MAP2 sensor... so no, you shouldn't need a tune.

It is my understanding that if you got this charge piping, you would just be replacing ugly, weak plastic with nice, strong metal tubing...that is what I'm hoping anyway...

Power gains realized from a piping upgrade like this will increase as you continue to upgrade the car, since the more airflow you try to put through it, the more restrictive the stock piping becomes.

Yes, 2.5". Ideal for 300-600 HP. Optimally sized, not oversized.

This won't affect airflow reporting at all, unlike intakes that house the MAF and can affect its airflow characteristics. The altered airflow signature is what throws the codes.

i have the clamps pictured above and they hold my 22psi all day... t-bolts are nice but you have to remember they are quite expensive!

Later this year. It will incorporate our Billet BOV like we use on the Solstice and Sky kits. It will be compatible with this piping kit.

I like the $650 for it all too...but NO logo. I don't want to advertise what I have to EVERYONE... just people that need or deserve to know. I have no problem telling people what I have and pushing a product for a company if I'm happy with it but to visually display on the exterior on my car and tell everyone to include the po-po that I'm pushin aftermarket HP mods...I don't like it.

when i got my hahn kit i was very very suprised by the quality of the charge piping, i thought it would be simple aluminized exhaust piping that had been powder coated... no, this stuff is very nice quality piping that is quite thick and durable with smooth flowing bends and the powder coat is very durable i have had the pipes on and off at least 5-6 times and not one has a even a scratch in it... no matter what it is hahn never fails to produce very high quality pieces at an affordable price.

if you looking for high flow quality charge piping look no further...

I was thinking that this plastic might be a weak part of the design and it might not be as reliable as the charge piping kits available. Although the kits look very nice, I'm not sure I'd want to spend hundreds of dollars just for looks...

At stock hp levels the piping will be only for looks and durability

I think snyapse got about 5 wheel in the very top end of the rev range with there dyno results with piping only with a tuned car.

I may upgrade if I ever swap turbos down the road however.

I like the fact that when I open the hood now, it looks bone ass stock!

We don't. Rigid mounting the pipes after we've used them to eliminate the flexible hoses at each end is not recommended. Engine/transmission movement versus the intercooler's stationary position on the chassis will lead to unwanted stresses and vibration if we tie down the pipe too tightly. Mostly, it's hard on the intercooler, but it's also hard on the pipes and couplers.

Yes, most OEM systems use a recirculating style. Frankly, it is the most efficient method, as it keeps the turbo more spooled than an open discharge. With our design, it's pretty noisy too! :twothumbs

We do have an open version. Employing one is usually much more complex than a tuning change alone...it may also require significant hardware changes to re-locate the MAF, and then basically turns into a complete re-tune from top to bottom of the airflow range.

You are correct...I am actually surprised that we've not seen more Cobalts with the plastic piping problems that have appeared on HHR.

They should be too close to call...the engines and supporting equipment are 99.99999% identical. Making the HHR SS one of the coolest grocery-getters ever!

well somethin haad to put the GT cruiser in its place lol usin the 2.4 Turbo from chrysler. i had a suggestion on the other thred for the I/C GB but same goes for the C/P after 10 people it could go down lil by lil every 5 more people.

i'm a little off topic but oh well..will the new intercooler yous are making affect the turbos performance at stock boost?..i heard if you have a stock turbo and you put a big ass intercooler on the car it steals boost from the turbo..my buddy had an srt4 with a wastegate, huge ass intercooler and some other little things..he was pushing around 12-15lbs with the wastegate but as soon as he put it back to stock and left the intercooler on his boost went down to around 8-9lbs

fortunately for YOU.....I'd probably be willing to go down THERE..... IF (and don't take this the wrong way) but if you had EVERYTHING we would need for sure to get it done and done right....it's worth a drive for me. Getting to know someone in the Cobalt community never hurts. You having mods and intel already on these TC's will help me learn them. If read a lot of your posts and feel confident that you know what you're doing but would we get it done somewhere or can we do it all ourselves? You're getting the combo now right?

I do all my work myself, and yes I'm getting the combo. I just need to srtaighten my my box a little but all my life I grew up around mechanics so I have plenty of tools. I just want to be sure that the intercooler requires no cutting like the synapse and if it doesn't then it should be easy as pie.

seems as though a lot of the posts say that the IC installl does NOT need any modifications to the chasis, front bumper...etc.....due to the curved back design of the sides. But really how many people have put them on so far? Not a lot I think.

I read that to but you will not know for sure until the product is actually released and people start installing it. If hahn says no cutting I believe him but theres allways that chance, the piping should be pretty much plug and play, im not worried about it. I'm just worried about the I/C.

Yes. All you need to do is partially remove the right inner fender liner to gain sufficient access.

Haha, they know who they are...we didn't make the deposit requirement on this one as we did on the intercooler.

We will contact any stragglers tomorrow when we go over our orders for both this and IC. I'll post up our findings so 'peer pressure' can be applied :)

We've never seen an item like charge piping be a warranty issue. Frankly, as the plastic piping can be a bit troublesome (we've heard reports of leakage, especially on HHR SS), this is actually helping GM out, for they won't ever have to worry about paying for new plastic pipes on your car!

The info on pricing can be found in the first post of this thread. Shipping to Canada East I'd estimate at $50.

Plus the Ice Storm might make delays so people be calm and look at the weather. I had 4 inches of Ice on my TC from last night. And it is heading to Chicago....
