WTF? Political threads?

I KNOW THIS WILL GET LOCKED, AND I'LL PROBABLY GET AN INFRACTION FOR THIS... BUT WHATEVER.. IT HAS TO BE SAID!

Ok... I generally stay quite, as in usually don't care... but WTF is this crap?

No Political Threads - We have disallowed all political threads because members get heated up, attack each other and fail to respect other's views. If you are looking for political discussions, please do a google search for “political forums”.
Seriously...
How about this... we ban all relationship threads... because 'If you are looking for relationship discussions, please do a google search for “relationship forums”
Or how about this... we just ban all non-Cobalt threads. Then we can have a real great time here.

The bottom line here... is that I think some of the mods are taking it a bit far. There is a difference between some of the real political thread, and threads that are just jokes (like many of them are). I can understand locking them if they get heated or out of control... but I've seen a few that are running their course, then brought up a month later by certain moderator just to inform everyone that they've locked an old thread.

On this topic as well. I know the election in the US is coming up and that is the reason for such heated debates... but what about after? Are we not to talk about the political things affecting our lives? Bills being passed? Laws being made? Where do you draw the line?

Anyways... that's enough for now. Answers other than 'because we said so' would be greatly appreciated.

It'd be easier to convince a brick to float then to get this place to change its mind. But best of luck with it anyway. :

i think its bull too, but they play the forum rules supercede the rights game, theres no point in fighting it, and .net is losing members left and right, for every 6 newbs that sign up 8 senior members are posting less and less or just moving on completely.

I agree with OP completely.

I am tired of seeing people complaining and making threads about relationships, etc. You know I rather listen to political threads than that. Because political affects us ALL not relationship threads.

If so many of the members weren't immature we wouldn't have to ban "grown up" topics like politics, but since they always resort to petty arguing, belittling, and BS we did away with them.

For the time being the Admin has banned all political threads, so I would assume that would include bills, laws, etc.
