water temp and oil pressure gauges

i wanna put a water temp and oil pressure gauge in my 09 cobalt turbo, but im not sure where to put the sender. water seems to be easy but cant find where to put the oil, can someone post pic to show where i put both senders? and is it possible to keep the stock ones in there as well with a t fitting or something?

plus what are the best gauges? i really like the defi racer series, the white ones seem to match the best with the stock cobalt gauges, plus they are cool. any advice or opinions? what do u guys like ?

Start reading here:

And here:

The Ecotecs are all close enough for this information to work on the LNF

^^ Dual Interceptors FTW. You will be able to read anything you ever wanted and if you change your mind, change the readout.

I just installed these into my car, and made a how-to

Which type gauge did you use? I would think since you have the TC the intake is completely away from the original switches position and you didn't have any fitment issues with the sending unit, correct?

Is your oil pressure @ 25 PSI idle (warmed up), and 70-75 PSI driving?

you cannot tap or rewire from the stock this will throw a CEL and cause the stock not to work u need to install the ones that come with the gauges, for the the water use this

cut your upper radiator hose and install this, than put the sender on it, and run your wires
http://prosportgauges.com/water-temp...e-adaptor.aspx

for oil pressure, use a gallery plug from the block(not the head as oil is restricted in the head)

the sending unit for the oil pressure sending unit will need this adapter:

where is this gallery plug located? i got a defi gauge so the sending unit is smaller and different, how come the one u showed me goes so big in the back or does it just look that way?

any idea what size our upper hose is?

JN2, he did what I did -- removed the original sending unit and put it in the cylinder head...then put the gauge sending unit in the original sending unit's original position on the block. I've had no CELS from doing this -- about 8 months now. Since the original sending unit is only a on-off switch the cylinder head has enough pressure to make it work and the gauge will read block pressure.

the intake manifold on a TC is a lot smaller than all the other Cobalt Engine's intakes.

yeah u can also do what was mentioned above, the size of the sendinfg unit doesnt matter, a lot of them are 1/8 threading, so they will work for that adapter on the hose, and for the oil do what was mentioned below, the stock can be moved to another location, its only sensitive to any less than 10psi i believe(wont throw a CEL or light until that) so in the head will work, its more of a on/off sorta thing

Oil gallery plug. 1st one is used for the turbo, 2nd is under the exhaust manifold, 3rd is the one you should use which is the one closest to the pulley

You can see it by looking up from underneath the car. It's not going to be easy to get off though
