Question:

I am running a 2.7 pulley and I am running 16 degrees of timing down low and about 18.5 degrees of timing up top at 7000-7200rpms with no kr without meth only a large front mount HE.

If I running a 2.6 how much timing can I run down low and up top vs 2.7??? Ie: 16degrees down low ---- 17 up top without meth???

What octane are you using. Its tough to say there are a lot of variables. Best bet is to put the ring on and try it out. I've cranked 19* out of the old 2.5" pulled setup on 93 with no meth.

How much timing did you run down low...say before 5 psi boost?? did you notice big difference in tq??

I only ran a 2.5" from day 6. I went from stock to 2.5" so i can't answer the question directly, but inderictly no it won't be that large of a difference maybe 5~8 wtq at best

what are your IAT2 temps with no meth and a 2.6"???
I'm running a 2.8" with just a front mount h/e for cooling and my iat2 hits 145 after a pass down the 1320'

What kinda whp/wtq did you make with your setup lsjwannabe?? I am looking for around 280-285whp and 250-260wtq....with meth / large front mount HE on 94 Sunoco mabe 265whp without meth

253whp/235 wtq trapped 110 in the 1/4

don't shoot for dyno imo they don't mean much. I have seen guys make well over 60 whp more than me and trap 107. They all read different and should only be used for a comparison between your car alone.

Depending on what type of dyno you use the numbers will vary.

What size of pulley were you using too make those numbers?? That was without meth, HE etc right?? I see Denny made 258whp/250wtq on a 2.6

Stick with the 2.7, get meth and be able to run even quicker. :twothumbs

Your saying a 2.7 meth car will pull a 2.6 meth car?

Just curious if that's what you meant by stick with the 2.7 get me and be even quicker

Timing will make more power than pulley. A smaller pulley takes power to make power. Because of this running more timing is going to give a greater gain than running a smaller pulley. I say increase the timing to 20ish and go to a 2.8 pulley. More boost does not necessarily mean more power.

Crazy talk. I love my 2.6 and nothing you say will make me stop using it :)

anyone wanna share their iat2 temps with a 2.5", 2.6", or 2.7" pulley???

150 iat2 after 3 WOT pulls on 2.6. Only cooling is meth with a 3 gph nozzle. Lower with bigger bozzle

Haven't dynoed on the 2.6 actually. Stage 2+ spec clutch went in today. When it gets back I'm doing some. Uh. Tasteful mods. Ill have dyno numbers within 2 weeks and ill definately start a thread!

I tried to do the Stu mod but the tank leaked and i didnt have large enough hoses. you should make another one and sell it to me:twothumbs

If already have a 2.7", skip the 2.6" and go for the 2.5". I was like LSJWannbe, my car went from stock to 2.5" ring in less than a week. I tried using a 2.7", but couldn't stand the TQ loss, didn't last more than 2 hours. Peak HP will be the same across the pullies, but it will just come on sooner, more low end TQ.

more low end torque, at the expense of blower damage, and alot of heat that can damage an engine. Is it really worth it?

There are a lot of variables. I've said it many times, there are about 6-7 cars around here that run 2.5" pullies for over 2 years now. All with the same tune. Still run fine no problems.

I know a 2.5" is not inherently an lsj death sentence. but I didnt think its something that any n00b can throw on and have no problems
