Car Keeps Cutting Out

I have an 05 Cobalt SS/SC. I have had this problem three times now, the car looses all power, the tach quits working, and this time I did notice a slight sulfer smell. The last time it happened the dealership said it was a crank shaft sensor. This time I shut the car off for two or three minutes and she ran fine. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, what was done to fix it? I am thinking the cat. may be clogged, But last time the dealership said it was fine. I am taking it in in the morning, just hoping to get some input.

I have only had this happen once. Everything just as you described. It has never occured again and I have driven over 12,000 miles since then. When I mentioned it to the dealer they looked at it and said nope no codes, must have been your gas. I listened to them for a couple of minutes and decided they didn't know what the hell was wrong with it and went on my way. Since I fill up my car 3 times per week you would figure if that was the problem it would have happened again.

The only thing I can ask is did you experience wheel hop when it happened? Thats what mine did. I took off from a stop sign and got wheel hop and it fell on its face. Now when I get wheel hop I let off the gas immediately.
