Oil life monitoring system

Does anybody know about the oil life monitoring system on the Cobalt? Here is my question: Is the calibration based off of Mobil 1 on the SS/SC, or do they use the same algorithm as the base/sport models do?

Its based on the required oil spec. SO the SS/SC is based on the syn spec and nonblown cars are based on standard oil.

If you ever have to run a nonapproved oil for some reason you are not supposed to go by the OLM, 3000miles max in that case.

Thanks, I have been following the OLM in all of my cars so far, but this is the first with syn, so I didn't want to change it early if it wasn't really due

I'm running Mobil 1 in mine, but it's not required.

Should I go by the OLM?

My dad's HHR went almost 6k miles before I changed it (switched from conventional to Mobil 1 as well) and still had 34% on it.

I say go by the OLM, however if by some chance it doesnt get down low enough change your oil every 10months or 10k miles no matter what.

Will the ACDelco filter be good for that time?
